Businessman and "Apprentice" television star Donald Trump blasted President George Bush today, calling him "probably the worst president in the history of the United States," and blaming his 2004 victory on the Democrat ticket.
Appearing on CNN's "Situation Room," Trump was asked by host Wolfe Blitzer his opinion of Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards.
"I don't know him," Trump answered. "People like him. I know people that like him very much, but I really don't know him."
Trump went on to say that Edward's experience as John Kerry's 2004 running mate was a negative in his estimation.
"Well, I think that's a huge negative, because that was a shame that that race was lost, because look what we have right now," Trump said. "It's a disaster. So, you know, I would probably be inclined not to like him on the basis that he lost an election that should have been won. That election should have been won."
Trump noted that the blame fell on Kerry as well.
"He's a friend of mine. But I'm so upset that he blew it," he said.
"I think Bush is probably the worst president in the history of the United States. And I just don't understand how they could have lost that election."
Asked about Hillary Clinton, Trump praised the former first lady, saying he thought she was ready to be commander-in-chief.

Well, the bright side of this is that if Trump runs as a spoiler, he will spoil Obama more than he spoils whoever the GOP candidate is.
Uhh no. Neither one.
Sounds like Trump may run and ask Hillary to be His Running Mate
Donald wants an open democrat primary.
The birth certificate issue will cause those democrats who are not happy with Obama to seek to recruit several opponents.
Maybe Hillary, maybe not.
The democrats are afraid of Palin because they know a telegenic, charismatic candidate can leapfrog the system and get elected (BHO). They fear her looks, charm and charisma more than any of her policy positions.
However, against Hillary, Palin will lose the “first female POTUS” edge and it will be a real fight
Unfortunately, I cannot see any democrats other than HRC who could win the D nomination over BHO.
Should be an interesting 18 months.
More evidence that golfing results in loss of reasoning power.
That interview was from 4 years ago. I think some here are missing that. It matters that he said it all, yes, but take the age of the interview into your analysis.
The Donald has piled onto the Hate-Bush bandwagon like just another Liberal teeny-bopper. That’s a down mark against the Trump candidacy.
AHA!!! If I was a fly on the wall, I’d bet I’d discover that the Clinton machine is behind Trump’s new-found BC “curiosity”. In tandem with his praise of Hilljazeera, this is starting to add up. This issue can destroy the Fraud, and Suha Arafat’s paramour knows that the blacks would never forgive her if HER fat footprints were found on Obama’s neck. Bob
Did I read that right? Trump wanted Kerry to win in 2004?
That pretty much writes him off, actually I had written him off long ago.
Ping ..
as i said, will wait and see what he wants to do before I support him. Let him fly w the birth certificate, but I wont support him for pres
Yes, lesson learned. I am always taking in data/ observations and tweaking my understanding of things.
However, I look for a person who knows himself/ has real opinions/ and is not afraid to speak them.
I would never sit out an election; our system is binary, and it is NOT heaven down here.
I can - he's a better BS'er than Bush!!
(That's NOT something that Obama should put on his resume)
I don’t think GWB was the worst ever. But he’s one of the worst.
Oh, great idea. Let’s dig up anti-Bush sentiment, and use it to stop the tea party. /s
The tea party will not be stopped with deceptiveness, fraud or outright lies. This is what the various factions of the ruling class need to figure out.
To me, anti-Bush sentiment helped create the Tea Party. The Tea party was spawned by TARP, which was passed during GWB’s presidency. More broadly, it was frustration with the GOP that led to the tea party. We got sick of the GOP promising but never delivering on spending cuts/reducing the size of gubmint. It was blind love for GWB that delayed the coming of the tea party.
Let’s make it easy: liberalism is the problem, conservatism is the solution.
When Bush acted like a liberal, he caused problems. When he acted like a conservative, he solved them.
Trump is a liberal who wants to seem like a conservative. He has no credibility.
When was that? Tax cuts? A) They were temporary--fail. And B) they were sold on Keynesian grounds (stimulus) which was a bogus argument and paved the way for all the "stimulus" that came after.
His Wilsonian foreign policy, spreading democracy around the world? Not conservative.
Judges? Only after the Harriet Miers debacle.
His RX drug program? I mean, really, what were 3 conservative things he did?
As far as I know, Bush didn’t invite Code Pink to the White House. LOL
I’m interested in defending conservative principles, not George W Bush.
Bottom line, Trump objected to Bush as a liberal, because Trump is a liberal.
