by Jim Hoft

These People Are Disgusting…

The far left is using a woman’s suicide to attack Governor Scott Walker.

The Progressive, a liberal website in Wisconsin, reported this week that a Wisconsin teacher committed suicide because of Governor Scott Walker’s union bill. The website says she was “distraught” to learn that she was going to have to pay 12.6% instead of 6% of her insurance premium...

Her stats:

# First name Jeri-Lynn Last name Betts Year and session 2009/10 Highest degree Master’s degree Salary $71,808 Fringe $18,234 Position title Teacher assign descript Early Childhood Special Education Low grade served PK High grade served PK Bilingual code No Full time equivalency 100% Work site Watertown Sch Dist / Schurz Elementary County name Jefferson County

It doesn't say what she was paying and how much more she would be paying. The article said the norm is 25% across the US. Obviously she wasn't a math major.

Liberal indoctrination - no more no less. This is why we say, liberalism is a mental disorder.

Such bullshit - 6% increase? Ours went up over 20% in January - considering that was almost $200 a month, I doubt her 6% was a huge amount, and certainly not enough to commit suicide over

It never said what the initial premium was and how much more 6% would come out of her pay. But, since no suicide note was left, how do we know it was suicide?

If there ever was a good reason to take yourself out, an increase in an insurance premium is certainly it. /s

Maybe then all the other teachers didn’t commit suicide because of Governor Scott Walker’s union bill.

I left the following comment on that article. If I could have found that author's email address, I would have sent it to him directly:

Of course it had to be those evil, America hating conservatives behind this woman's suicide. It couldn't be that she was depressed to the point of suicide because of SOME OTHER REASON. If this woman committed suicide over a 6% increase, then she had some SIGNIFICANT mental health issues long before the bill went into law.

That's the thing that always kills me about liberals. Regardless of the circumstances, it's always SOMEONE ELSE'S FAULT. It's all pat of the pathology of the left. Hey Rothschild, if you find out that she had a long standing, significant mental illness history and possibly previous suicide attempts, will you report that too? I would bet my next paycheck that those facts will never come to light. To do so would completely erase any credibility you might have as a journalist. Never let facts get in the way of a good liberal emotion based article bashing conservatives. Intellectual dishonesty, along with hypocrisy, form the very cornerstones of liberalism.

The increase was 6% to 12%. The union leadership likely inflamed the "rank and file" by saying the premiums will be doubled or it's a 100% increase. The actual numbers are far less "scary". Did someone intentionally whip up her fears? It's a common union tactic. Sometimes it backfires.

Considering a huge part of the union outcry against Walker’s plan was that THEY AGREED to the increases, wouldn’t it be more accurate to blame this lady’s suicide on union “

Well, when I think about all the people in the private sector who can’t even afford health and retirement plans so the unions can live high on the hog...I just can’t muster up a lot of sympathy. If a 6% increase caused her to do it, she wasn’t too damn stable anyway.
