Western allies stepped up military pressure against Moammar Gadhafi, sending warships and fighter planes to the region to enforce a U.N. authorized no-fly zone, even as Libyan forces shelled a rebel-held city despite declaring a cease-fire.
President Barack Obama demanded Friday that Gadhafi halt military assaults against civilians and said that if the Libyan leader did not stand down the United States would join in military action against him.

That’s like the UN saying they’ll pass a more strongly-worded resolution.
prepares to flip a coin...advisers appalled
LOL Classic cartoon
“Send Hillary over there then.”
What she gonna do, threaten to show up in a bikini?
Typical bully, he hides behind everyone.
I think our President has not yet seen Team America World Police:
Hans Blix: I’m sorry, but the UN must be firm with you. Let me in, or else.
Kim Jong Il: Or else what?
Hans Blix: Or else we will be very angry with you... and we will write you a letter, telling you how angry we are.
It looks like UN international law and 0bama have declared that nations are no longer allowed to defend themselves from rebels. Why are the demonstrators not referred to as insurgent?
If it ever gets bad enough here that The People will revolt will the UN and a coalition of nations step in and help 0bama retain control?
Gaddafi will shove a grenade up Zero’s ass before he’s done. Thanks illiac.
Don’t make me warn you again.
This puts me in an awful place. I always support our troops in harms way but we should stay out of this. I’d like to see Gaddafi prefail against these unknown “freedom fighters”. So I am rooting for him and not us unfortunately and just hope our boys stay out of the way.
Good point, and I think that the answer is likely, "Yes".
We used to fight under the auspices of "preventing communism from taking over", then it became "preventing terrorists from taking over" -- all military actions never declared as "wars" approved by Congress, as required by our Constitution. In reality, each time and each action we diminished the idea of national sovereignty and most Americans didn't care as long as the sovereignty breached was not our own. But each time, we were really giving more power to the UN and NATO to determine and carry out our foreign policy. Just how long does anyone think it will be before all that offloaded power will be turned against us?
Gaddafi is a rotten bastard, but there is absolutely nothing in America's interest to get involved in Libya. We won't be thanked for it, we'll just get kicked in the head. And who knows? What might take the reins post Gaddafi could be worse than Gaddafi in terms of our national interests.
Freakin idiot.
“Or else what?”
“I won’t like you anymore.”
The rebels crumble while Obamario bumbles.
If Obama reaches Triple Dog Dare, Kadaffi better really watch out.
