It looks like UN international law – and 0bama – have declared that nations are no longer allowed to defend themselves from rebels. Why are the “demonstrators” not referred to as “insurgent”?
If it ever gets bad enough here that The People will revolt will the UN and a coalition of nations step in and help 0bama retain control?

Good point, and I think that the answer is likely, "Yes".

We used to fight under the auspices of "preventing communism from taking over", then it became "preventing terrorists from taking over" -- all military actions never declared as "wars" approved by Congress, as required by our Constitution. In reality, each time and each action we diminished the idea of national sovereignty and most Americans didn't care as long as the sovereignty breached was not our own. But each time, we were really giving more power to the UN and NATO to determine and carry out our foreign policy. Just how long does anyone think it will be before all that offloaded power will be turned against us?

Gaddafi is a rotten bastard, but there is absolutely nothing in America's interest to get involved in Libya. We won't be thanked for it, we'll just get kicked in the head. And who knows? What might take the reins post Gaddafi could be worse than Gaddafi in terms of our national interests.
