Yes, LN2 would be a good thing.
But if they can’t pump in H20, how do you think they could manage LN2?
Inside all these buildings there is total darkness (no windows, for obvious reasons). Workers move around with flashlights or headlamps. This is what happens in a “station blackout”.
Via NHK, the heroic workers have tried to supply water using “manual pumps”. Our old farm pumps—manual—could not ever supply 1 million gallons.

Andrew, a senior aide to International Atomic Energy Agency chief Yukiya Amano, emphasized that the situation could change quickly, either improving or escalating into a wider catastrophe.I can make the very same prediction sitting here in my underpants at my keyboard. Mr. Andrew must carry Mr. Amano's briefcase and nothing more.

“Unmitigated act of irresponsibility” is a pretty good overall summary of Western reporting on Daiichi.

So you believe an inner member of the Obama Administration who has an anti-nuclear stance? Why?

I agree.
I am watching CNN, and they mentioned it.

There is so much disinformation out there it's diverting attention and help from the true crisis of the earthquake/tsunamic victims.
I'd sooner place my trust in internet posts from locals rather than believe a media based report.

Radiation from the pool at Unit 4 will destroy a video camera in a matter of minutes.
To: topher
Liquid nitrogen would “explode” on contact with something at 100degrees C. That is to say it would evaporate so fast as to be a massive expulsion of gas. In addition hitting the hot rods with a cold spot may actually cause them to rupture - a very bad thing.
To: ex-Texan
I believe that the primary containment on Unit 3 is breached and that there is very limited of no pumping ability left to the Unit. It is very possible that the vessel was breached and is leaking. There is some scuttlebutt among industry people that there was a common valve failure on three units at the plant - all of which are in primary cooling loops. And yes this is a Level 6 event.

Los Angeles live geiger counter readings. Note the live comments on the right side.

So far radiation levels read consistently under 50. I saw a report recently that says the weather system out of Japan is carrying contamination northward towards Alaska, Arctic and Greenland

Historical readings average about 28 for Los Angeles. A moment ago I saw a reading of 65 on the LA geiger counter. To put this in perspective -- 100 is considered to be high.
Note: This is just a small sample from Santa Monica. It is not official. That single unit might be out of order. Then, again, local radiation levels may actually be going up.
LOL !

When the high rise concrete pump trucks get on site I will feel a lot better. They can pump water or concrete through same and the booms are remotely controlled with video. They can line the cabs with lead and coninuously pump water from the ocean into their hoppers. When's that supposed to happen?
