U.S. sales of Diet Coke overtook those of Pepsi-Cola for the first time in 2010, making the diet soda the No. 2 carbonated soft drink in the country behind Coca-Cola, industry data are expected to confirm Thursday.
Occupying the top two rankings would mark a historic win for Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE: KO - News) in its decades-old rivalry with PepsiCo Inc. (NYSE: PEP - News), which has seen its market share slip in recent years and is trying to retool its marketing.

I always get a kick out of some porker ordering a double-double, chili fries.....and a diet Coke.

Just my personal tastes but I consider Diet Coke the nastiest tasting of most all diet sodas. To me it has a tinny taste. Coke Zero I like, but Diet Coke I have to put a shot of Regular Coke or vanilla flavoring in it to kill the taste.

That stuff is brutally disgusting. Diet Dr Pepper or Coke Zero are at least reasonably alright. Yuck!

I do...it just tastes better to me. Some don't necessarily drink it for the "diet". I prefer Diet Pepsi, but I go with whatever is on sale.

Ugh. Diet soda. I’d walk around drinking watered-down, unsweetened tea before I drank diet soda. I’ve never found a non-sugar sweetener that didn’t have a horrid aftertaste. Granted, I haven’t tried truvia yet.

I agree, Diet Coke tastes better.
Been drinking it for 25+ years and loving it.
Being from Georgia I have to ask. What is this “Pepsi?!” and why should I care?

I couldn’t stand both of them: Pepsi and Coke. Coke was a sponsor of the Daily Show mock protest in DC and pepsi logo looks exactly like the idiotic obama hopeychangey logo.
I just head to the 99C store and get either a 3 liter pop or 6 cans for 99C.
To: ConservativeStatement
It could have something to do with Pepsi's logo
Just a thought.

I’ll probably get flamed by WalMart haters for saying this, but I much prefer Sam’s Diet Cola over Diet Coke. To me it has just a hint of cinnamon-like flavor, and it’s $2.50 a 12 pack vs. $3.98 for DC.

Definitely Pepsi Max. I rarely go near Diet Coke anymore. Max is the best thing since Jolt Cola but without the sugar.
