A Major Earthquake in North America Imminent?
FoxBusinessNews ^ | 3/14/11 | Neil Cavuto

JIM BERKLAND, GEOLOGIST: The month of October, March, and April are the three most devastating earthquakes in terms of damage in the San Francisco Bay Area in history. And we are having on the 19th of this month not only the full moon, but within an hour the closest approach of the moon to the earth until the year 2016. The next day is the equinoctial tides. So you're bringing together three of the maximum tide raising forces. We know about the ocean tides. But there is also an Earth tide. And there is a tide in the ground water. All of these help to release sudden, built up strain, and cause earthquakes.

CAVUTO: But that would seem to imply that we could be looking at a very imminent event in the United States within the next week or two? Is that right?

BERKLAND: Yes. My -- what I call a seismic window, this top seismic window in years is developing between the 19th and 26th of this month. And this was 7.0 monster and it says geologist had warned about it. And a week earlier, the they were talking about the tides, not to worry about the really tides coming up. I think there is worry here too.

you really cant be prepared going across the Bay Bridge. That thing terrifies you if you stop to think about it. They dont even know, or wont say, how many people went off that thing in the last earthquake.

In other news, 775,000 people won the state lottery after a psychic came onto Fox news and gave the winning lottery numbers. While the 775,000 will be splitting the $25,000,000 jackpot ($33 each, payable over 20 years), the sole person who got five numbers plus the gold spot will be taking home a roaring $125,000. When asked why they skipped one of the numbers in the draw, the person, who desires to remain anonymous replied, ‘I knew a lot of people would go for the win, and realized that this left the big prize for almost winning wide open.’

Jim Berkland has never, ever, gotten an earthquake prediction right. You'd be far better off asking him when and where an earthquake was going to happen, and going there at the appointed time, as you'll likely be in the safest place on earth. I can't count the number of studies that have torn apart the whole tidal theories for earthquakes, and seriously, who the heck on the planet places a newspaper ad when their cat disappears?

He's a quack that gave up tracking his own results, as he couldn't take dishing out that much bull each month.

we were at the Science museum in Seattle many yrs ago and were watching a mouse maze with several dozen little white mice....they were all going the same way on the maze track and suddenly, instantly switched and started going the other way...very odd.....until later that day we heard that at that same time there was a small earthquake that shock parts of Puget Sound......animals can be predictors of natural events and they certainly react quicker than humans to slight variations...

If you’re prepared for an earthquake that doesn’t happen...no harm. If you aren’t prepared...it is too late.

Exactly. Couldn't have put it much better.

Several years ago some expert claimed the New Madrid was going to blow during the month of December. Schoolchildren went nuts, people had to go for therapy, insurance companies ran their rates up, there was a run on gas, stores with perishables were out.....nothing happened.

I live on a farm with animals all around me and they do know when something is happening. Dogs and other animals feel and hear things we can’t, like vibrations and sounds too low for us to pick up. They seem to instinctivly know what is dangerous.

I believe they communicate with each other. A long time ago, I noticed that there are patterns to our dogs barking; sort of like a language. Their barking is in numeric patterns and is not just random or constant barking (unless stressed). They have their own language. - We have lots of coyotes here, and our dogs “talk” with them, even with the “coyote howling” sort of language that is totally different from the dogs’ usual barking sounds. (The dogs are still connected to the coyotes, I suppose.)

I had a dream of dodging falling debris in a city the day before the Japan earthquake, I was also ironically naked, I had grabbed a piece of visqueen to wrap around myself, as I was making detours around structures I felt something approaching, something heavy and unstoppable, this much I remember as we all know we usually cannot remember the dreams much but in this case I think the last thing I saw was a mountain of debris coming at me.

I’m not making this up and I posted this same comment before, but that same day the Japan earthquake happened my little army of cats all were bouncing off the walls, I could not keep them satisfied, they were looking out the window, looking at me, when in the bathroom they were crowding each other to be at my feet, when I opened the front door they would just sit there and stare outside.

And I am in Alaska where we get earthquakes on a daily basis.

Most scientists seem to discount him as a kook, but he did famously and publicly predict the Loma Prieta earthquake in ‘89.

Could have been a Jean Dixon moment.

I think we really have no idea how much force the moon exerts on the earth when they get a lot closer.

I think it's easy to calculate the forces, hard to predict the consequences.

I completely believe that humans also (some humans) “feel” when something isn't right. It could be something scientific such as a fast change in air pressure or it could be something else, or both. People have instincts too, they just don't listen to them anymore. We also have a Guardian but we don't also listen to him either. :-)

I had a similar experience as you. I'm in S.E. TN and tornadoes are our thing. I was five months pregnant back in 1974 when tornadoes hit TN and was at home taking a nap. Well, I was at my parent's-in-law’s. I was dreaming about a tornado hitting the neighborhood. Funny thing was that when I laid down for my nap the sun was shining. Anyway, in my dream I went to the basement and got under the stairs.

I woke up to find everything dark and storming. I saw something fly by the window and when I started to the kitchen I heard an awful noise that sounded like a train. I looked out the kitchen window in time to see the house behind ours explode. I immediately did what I did in my dream. I went to the basement and got under the stairs. I huddled down there for what seemed like forever and watched the two story colonial brick literally rock back and forth. It looked like the walls were breathing.

Was the dream a warning? Did it prepare me for what was coming? Yep. I feel to this day that the dream is what kept me from panicking and possibly hurting myself and my baby.

The Lord works in mysterious ways sometimes.

I am hoping this gut doesn't know what he is talking about!

He might be correct. Another earthquake guru I saw on TV yesterday pointed out that, within the "ring of fire", there have been violent earthquakes during the past year in Chili, New Zealand, and Japan. Our West Coast is on the "ring" but has not had one. Is it due?

My Wife is the same way.

On the morning of the Japan quake, she awoke me and I immediently knew she was very upset. She said this was just the beginning.

We’ve been in *prepare* mode ever since.

There is no corelation between tides and earthquakes. At first you might think that there is more pressure, but their isn’t. The water is only higher because part of the gravitational pull is being nullified. On a continent the maximum pressure would be at “low tide” not high.
