Teachers, Firefighters, Cops Target M&I With Boycott (Union Goons Threaten Bank)
Journal Sentinel ^ | Thursday, March 10, 2011 | Patrick Marley

Madison -- Teachers, firefighters and police officers said they would begin a boycott of M&I Bank if the bank does not begin publicly opposing Gov. Scott Walker's efforts to curtail collective bargaining for public workers.

Unions representing those groups said they would start other boycotts of businesses that backed Walker in his campaign.

The letter to M&I President Tom Ellis said the boycott would begin March 17 if the bank hasn't opposed Walker's efforts by then.

"In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining, please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the goods and services provided by your company," the letter says. "However, if you join us, we will do everything in our power to publicly celebrate your partnership in the fight to preserve the right of public employees to be heard at the bargaining table."

The letter was sent by the heads of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 311, Madison Teachers Inc., Green Bay Education Association, Dane County Deputy Sheriffs Assocation and the Madison Professional Police Officers Association.

So now they're going to boycott businesses that aren't boycotting the state?

I wonder how much picking and choosing and off-paying is going on there.

Maybe it’s time to NOT exempt firefighter and police unions.

The Hammer and Sickle crowd sound like they might be really pissed. They’ll get over it. Commies always do. They are used to being a bunch of losers.

Hehe..... boycotts usually fail, when tried by either side.
I hope this one is epic fail.

Since we moved to Wisconsin, we needed to find a new bank...seems like we found it.

These unions thugs are acting like a PARODY of mafia enforcers in movies. “Nice store...shame if anything happened to it.”

Funny thing is M&I Bank was just sold to Canadian bank BMO and is no longer a WI bank... I am sure they also are about to lay off a lot of people.

Talk about poor PR. The bank should take out a full page in the local newspaper as well as other media and print a copy of the threatening letter. along with that they should state their position as declining to take a position for either side in this dispute. The bank is there to serve everyone and does not wish to alienate any of its clients.

The branch in the photo the goons were massed in front of today closed out of safety concerns because of the goons. The lefties are trying to spin the closure as a result of a ‘run’ on the bank when a few union goons closed their accounts and walked out with checks totalling nearly $200,000.

Sounds like the unions are thrashing about wildly, attacking anyone and everyone with threats. Importantly, this tactic almost never works, and makes you look weak, mean and desperate.

Historically, labor disputes were usually resolved in favor of whoever had the public’s confidence and support. In this case, the combination of arrogance, greed, and stubbornness is likely going to cost the unions plenty.

As soon as the governor signs this bill, counties and municipalities throughout the State are going to start slashing union employees, which is the beginning of the end of their power in the State.

If the unions win, Wisconsin will just be a union thug state. Taxpayers will be the new serfs bowing to the union aristocrats.

Yeah, here it is:

From Journal Sentinel, 12-17-10:

After two years in the red and facing a still-bumpy road back to profitability, Marshall & Ilsley Corp. said Friday it would be acquired by the Canadian parent company of Harris Bank, a move that should invigorate the wounded M&I franchise but will cost Milwaukee a corporate headquarters.

M&I, which is the largest bank based in Wisconsin, agreed to be acquired by Toronto-based BMO Financial Group - known in Canada as the Bank of Montreal - in an all-stock deal valued by the companies at $4.1 billion.

BMO said it expects $250 million in cost savings from the merged companies, but BMO’s top executive said it was too soon to say how many jobs would be eliminated and branches would close, and what will happen to M&I’s downtown Milwaukee office tower.

M&I has 9,100 employees nationwide, about 4,300 of them in southeastern Wisconsin. . .
