NPR President and CEO Vivian Schiller has resigned, NPR just announced.
This follows yesterday's news that then-NPR fundraiser Ron Schiller (no relation) was videotapped slamming conservatives and questioning whether NPR needs federal funding during a lunch with men posing as members of a Muslim organization (they were working with political activist James O'Keefe on a "sting.") Vivian Schiller quickly condemned Ron Schiller's comments, and he moved up an already-announced decision to leave NPR and resigned effectively immediately. But Ron Schiller's gaffe followed last fall's dismissal of NPR political analyst Juan Williams, for which Vivian Schiller came under harsh criticism.
NPR just sent this statement from NPR Board of Directors Chairman Dave Edwards to its staff and member stations:
"It is with deep regret that I tell you that the NPR Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of Vivian Schiller as President and CEO of NPR, effective immediately.
"The Board accepted her resignation with understanding, genuine regret, and great respect for her leadership of NPR these past two years.
"Vivian brought vision and energy to this organization. She led NPR back from the enormous economic challenges of the previous two years. She was passionately committed to NPR's mission, and to stations and NPR working collaboratively as a local-national news network.
"According to a CEO succession plan adopted by the Board in 2009, Joyce Slocum, SVP of Legal Affairs and General Counsel, has been appointed to the position of Interim CEO. The Board will immediately establish an Executive Transition Committee that will develop a timeframe and process for the recruitment and selection of new leadership.
"I recognize the magnitude of this news and that it comes on top of what has been a traumatic period for NPR and the larger public radio community. The Board is committed to supporting NPR through this interim period and has confidence in NPR's leadership team."
We'll have much more on this as the story develops.
Update at 9:30 a.m. ET: "I'm told by sources that she was forced out," NPR's David Folkenflik just said on Morning Edition.
Two shills gone in less than a day!.............
Mr Schiller assured the MEAC they would survive. He said they only get 10% of funding from government and while they might have to shut down some stations they could go on. Let’s take him at his word, try it and see.
What kind of “golden parachute” did she get on her way out?
Is that a challenger to Helen Thomas?
This is part of the overall strategy. The left uses tax dollars to fund their political activities. In schools, for example, if you don't support the government schools, you can send your kid to private school. However, you're still going to pay for the government school. They get all their money and half of ours to advance their agenda.
BUH BYE!!!
Yippee kiyay kiyo!!
Her Nat’l Press farce yesterday
“wish those folks could be in our editorial meetings ..”
“journalism reflects no particular bias” ..
“I ask them to point to specific stories” ..
“no question it’s a perception issue” ..
AND SOMEONE DID THEIR HOMEWORK AND FOUND THE TRUTH!!
ROFL!
Lost a florin
Rush outed these two Kapos yesterday. We The People must call our reps and demand all the funding to this bunch of RATs be stopped.
Now that's funny! With your comments and those from Laz, Delta Dawn and Second Amendment First, I have been LOL on this thread!

Ooops...know not no
Even that's subsidized, both directly and indirectly.
We have an energy sector that produces that Obama is doing his best to impede and dismantle
There's little energy production. It's mostly extraction, conversion, and exploitation of finite resources. (Of course, "produced" energy isn't really produced, but is just captured, but at least it's not finite.)
Medical sector- half of that could be done away with if people didnt abuse their health so much eating junk and processed foods
Hollywood produces exportable products. Technological developments are still made. Universities still bring in students from overseas so we can give away our knowledge in exchange for tuition.
At the end of the this video it said “to be continued”.
They must have something else. I there is real uneasiness at NPR while they wait for the other shoe to fall.
Schiller was fired, Schiller (F) was fired too.....make no mistake, NPR is in FULL CYA mode since they slandered Juan Williams TWICE. I hope Juan sues the rainbow colored panties of both him and her!
As the Left gets further defunded, there will be fewer and fewer of those 6-figure jobs for liberals. Let them fund themselves without the benefits of capitalism, which they openly disparage.
One victory at a time.
Dave Edwards gave the game away when he stated that “with deep regret Schiller was resigning,” which means that he and his Board understand nothing and will change nothing.
Defund them now. I’ve yet to see any news article that actually states how much federal subsidy this horrible organization is fleecing from the taxpayers.
I love it.
I'm gonna go hit O'Keefe's tip jar. Everyone here should do the same.
