There are also cases of heart problems that can cause sudden death like that. Every once in awhile you hear about them. My hubbies family has some kind of strange heart problem. After one of the cousins dropped dead before age 18, they all got checked for it. I think it’s called long Q syndrome.
My guess is a congenital heart condition that went undetected.
Call me old fashioned, but I’ll wait for the autopsy report.
A young girl in flordia got killed bull riding, something she loved to do. The peta wackos gave her hell. This kid loved sports, and you want to drag something else in to it. Honor the kids dedication and keep your personal crusades to yourself, just may make you feel better.
Prayers to his family.
He made the winning shot before passing away. To those who don’t believe in God....coincidence?
Prayers to his family and friends. He was doing what he loved. What a gift. Obviously for the family and friends, that is of little comfort.
I wonder if he might have had Marfan’s Syndrome. Tall, lanky people are likely to have it, and that’s the kind of individual who tends to do well at sports like basketball.
I wonder if they had a defibrillator. CPR has a poor success rate.
Wow... He went out a “Hero” to his team - making the winning shot to cap a perfect season... still, how sad for the family and his friends.
Prayers for all involved.
My teen son occasionally uses red bull before practice. I have never heard it could cause death before athletic pursuits. The only deaths caused by red bull that I can find are when it is combined with alcohol,by partying teens. Its irresponsible to blame red bull in this teen athlete’s death.
Rest in peace, young man, and prayers for all who loved him.
I can’t imagine the pain his family and friends are going through right now.
How terrible.
May God lead him into heaven.. Bless the family and I pray God is with them ..What a shock to them..
In order to help other young people, the family also should be aware that if this young man had been prescribed any medications recently, he may have suffered some side effect which was undetected, but which may contributed to his death.
Although all of us are aware of medication side effects, most may not be aware that there are now seveeral genetic tests which can be done to reduce the chance of being prescribed medications which either will not work or may have serious side effects because the patient is a Poor Metabolizer, an Intermediate Metabolizer, or an Ultrarapid Metabolizer.
Labs doing such tests include Lab Corp and AssureRx, but few doctors may be aware that lives can be saved, ineffective treatments avoided, and serious side effects sometimes avoided by giving patients a choice of such testing prior to prescribing high-powered medications which may alter their lives and those of their families. See.
Such may having nothing at all to do with this young man's death, but parents of an athlete who must take prescription medications, no matter how simple they may seem, might consider having the child tested for the type of drug-metabolizing enzymes unique to that individual. Genetic test results can be used throughout one's life, because they do not change, we are told.

I’ve played coached and taught basketball for 54 years. This story has almost in tears it is such a stab in the heart. May God have mercy on this boy and ease the pain of his family and friends.
Cardiomyopathy refers to diseases of the heart muscle. These diseases enlarge your heart muscle or make it thicker and more rigid than normal. In rare cases, scar tissue replaces the muscle tissue.
Some people live long, healthy lives with cardiomyopathy. Some people don’t even realize they have it. In others, however, it can make the heart less able to pump blood through the body. This can cause serious complications, including
