Leave the damage to remind people... like Long’s bullet holes in Baton Rouge.

Who knew that tape would harm marble?”””
Certainly NOT a UW student!!!!!!!
No it does not. Marble is a metamorphic rock that is basically recrystallized CaCO3. Both the starting and finished carbonates are extremely insoluble in any of the commonly available alcohols. The metamorphic rock is denser and much more insoluable than the starting material.
That's a totally ridiculous cleaning estimate and the story contains nothing to justify such a ridiculously high cost.
Or the Slaughter At Union Station (Kansas City).
I agree. leave it as a lesson to remind people of the true nature of the left that could care not for anyones property other than their own personal property while on the otherhand, saying that all of our property and money belongs to the 'union and marxist' people, while most employees that do not belong to a union.
Well, there’s got to be something that could be used. Acetone works even better than alcohol, and apparently will not harm marble. If you ask me, a public building has no business being so fancy. After reading about how to care for marble, I must conclude that it is totally impractical for anything but sculpture. I would never have it in my house, especially for a floor.
Yep. Move it to someplace in Paul Ryan’s district.
I thought it was funny. :)
Have you properly sealed it??
I seal marble with a sealer that is made specifically for marble and costs about $70/quart wholesale, but it works really well.
That is funny but a great idea. lol
7.5 mil, its a state job.
a union contractor will get the money
That is known as a left-handed compliment. It is an insult made while pretending to praise.
That’s the spirit in which I took BB’s remarks, anyway.
;-)
Exactly!

I can hear the words, “Isn’t it a shame what THOSE PEOPLE DID”?

And put a sign up reminding people who did the damage.
With framed photos to prove it.

They could kill two birds with one stone by leaving it. First, as a reminder and secondly as a show of fiscal restraint. DON’T SPEND MONEY YOU DON’T HAVE!
Excellent!

Well, I had marble tiles in 2 bathrooms and a shower when I lived in TX (with hard water). I don’t remember doing ANYTHING special for them. I just mopped them. I know they scratch easily, but I had no other problems. My neighbors all had marble in their entry halls, but I opted for Saltillo tiles there. Now THOSE were a pain. I had to buff them with paste wax and every drop of water made a spot.
As a matter of fact, I have marble in my current entry hall, but it has had another type of flooring installed over it. I don’t know why. I figure that it has something to do with the neighborhood legend (confirmed) that a mare was brought inside to foal in the entry hall. There was a party going on, and ... ???
Or, perhaps it is because a subsequent owner changed the stairway from circular to L shaped. LOL. Either the marble got damaged from the horses, or the change in the configuration of the stairway foot print left some areas uncovered when they were done with the remodel.
