House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is being "bossed around by a bunch of freshman," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) office charged Wednesday.
Reid's top spokesman fired back at Boehner, who will say in a speech today that Reid has no plan to address spending and debt.
"Thats tough talk from someone who is being bossed around by a bunch of freshman," Reid's communications director, Jon Summers, said in a statement.
Boehner charged Reid with having no serious plan to cut spending and jabbed at the Senate's top Democrat for not having taken action on the House-passed bill funding government for the rest of the fiscal year, which cuts $61 billion for the budget. That passed last month.
Reid and President Obama have rejected that bill. In the interim, the Senate is set Wednesday morning to approve a bill funding the government for an additional two weeks, at reduced levels, beyond Friday, when the budget runs out.
Summers pointed to that vote as a concrete sign of the Senate's action on spending, hitting the Speaker in the meanwhile.
"It's surprising that the Speaker of the House is unaware that the Senate is voting on a bill to fund the government and cut spending this morning," he said.

Glad to hear it.
The funny thing is, that Nancy Pelosi also gets to be bossed around be freshmen. These freshmen are why Boehner has his position, and Pelosi lost hers.
I wouldn’t call this being “bossed around”-I call it taking wise counsel from people who actually listen to their constituents!
Amen!
>> House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is being “bossed around by a bunch of freshman,”
We can only *hope* this is true.
>> ... hitting the speaker in the meanwhile
In the say WUT? Where is one’s meanwhile, exactly? Is it sensitive and hairless? Will hitting Johnny there make him cry?
Well, Harry, you get bossed around by SEIU, whom nobody elected. So where’s your moral superiority here?
Good sign.
I think we learned from last year's health care vote that DemocRATs don't give a whit about listening to their constituents (i.e., the people in their districts, as opposed to the union bosses). So perhaps being "bossed around" to Reid means being "bossed around" by the American voters, which to him is something that should not be tolerated.
One of the problems with the way Congress has operated is the whole idea of “seniority”. In reality, it’s the “freshmen” who tend to represent the wishes of the people most directly, because the current general sentiment swept them into office. As such, they should be driving more of the agenda, whether it is to any particular side’s benefit or not.
Or, in short, “they won”, so get over it.
Absolutely delighted....with a big smile on my face as I read Reid’s observation.
So Reid is complementing himself for a job he STILL HASN’T FINISHED from last year!!
Hey Harry! Do your job from last year!!!
GOOD!
Oh, too funny! It’s “bossed around” when Boehner listens to the new members, and it’s “follow-the-leader” when Pelousey runs blindly over all her party members, resulting in the loss of the dem majority. Looks like Boehner has the right idea.
From what I see, we are caving at every opportunity.
Reid may be cunning, and sly, but one can be overly cunning, and sly also. Seems to me if he would have thought prior to making his very stupid statement, or his spokesman would have, then he’d not have said such a thing as it’s the people, the constituents that the freshman represent that are bossing Congressional Republicans around, JUST AS THE CONSTITUTION IS DESIGNED.
GEE Harry doesn’t moveon and the publc sector union do the same thing to you?
Its funny to imagine Reid saying this with his Mr Peeper’s voice.
