Aggies on Tuesday shot down an effort to support concealed-carry legislation, voting like they did two years ago, this time opposing it with 57 percent of more than 13,600 votes cast.

The vote was only symbolic, but it affirmed academia's generally solid opposition to pending legislation that would allow concealed-carry permit holders to carry handguns in Texas university buildings.

"There's a lot of potential for trouble if college students were allowed to have guns inside the buildings on campus," said business student Ryan Haltom, Class of 2014, moments after the result was read. He voted no.

An April 2009 referendum at Texas A&M found that 5,700 Texas A&M students -- or 54 percent of those surveyed -- opposed concealed carry on campus.

“...During that time I carried my 1911 in my briefcase or placed it in my desk. I was the V. P. for Business Affairs.”

That’s how an AMERICAN does things, brother. And it’s good to hear it.

It’s why liberals hate us - we’re a constant, giant middle finger to them.

LFOD - it’s not just a license plate or bumper sticker phrase.
