NASHVILLE, Tenn. Tennessee drivers may soon have to start strapping their pets into a seatbelt with driving.
Under a bill sponsored by Rep. Jim Cobb, dogs or other animals must be restrained while in the interior of a motor vehicle in motion.
According to the Spring City Republican, not only can it be distracting for drivers to have a pet roaming around a vehicle, it could be potentially dangerous for them.
Jessie Medina is the general manager at the PETCO store in Bellevue and told Nashville's News 2 there are already plenty of products available.

I dunno, on one level, this kind of makes sense. You shouldn’t drive with the dog in the front seat and/or with head hanging out of window. That said, I, for one do not want to be legally required to strap in Fido. My pooch stays on the floor under the dash.

Jim Cobb is an idiot and needs to retire before he imposes more silliness on his constituents.
We’ve become a silly country.

You mean that Fifi won’t be able stand on Mumsies lap and help steer while slobbering out the drivers window anymore?

Mr Cobb, unaware that state funds are billions in deficit, focused like a laser on matters of historic significance.
This guy ought to show up in a Dilbert cartoon.

If TN votes for this, I propose a requirement that TN lawmakers need to be restrained with appropriate restraints while they are in session. Gagging would help too.
This is clearly Nanny-statism on steroids.
