Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said Tuesday that House Republicans want to strip government funding of PBS because they have a "vendetta against Elmo."
Boxer made the comments during a floor speech where she made the case for her bill that would ensure that the president and lawmakers are not paid if a government shutdown occurs.
Boxer said that the cost of four hours of the Iraq war would be enough to keep PBS funded and the popular fire-red children's character on the air.
Boxer believes that the GOP has more than just a vendetta against Elmo. She added that Republicans hold a "vendetta against healthcare" and a "vendetta against clean energy."
House Republicans last month passed a bill that would strip government funding for both National Public Radio and PBS.

"For a person of her age, Boxer seems inordinarily vexed about this." That's because Elmo and the Senator have the exact same material stuffed between their ears.

Wonder if Cee Lo Green’s F-you performance with the muppets was done in protest?

In 2010 Barbara Boxer won re-election.
And it wasn’t even close.
Think about that while you’re job hunting. :)

Boxer can connect ‘Elmo’ to Sesame Street, and Sesame Street to PBS. For a liberal, this is a monumental achievement of deductive reasoning. This puts her miles ahead of Pelosi.

Perhaps. I had read Boxer was deeply impressed by the PBS icon's intellect when he came before congress in '02.

Sesame Street is a one hour advertisement for stuffed animals.

Claims it’s “for the children”, while all in favor of mass genocide of said children. Nothing but a child abuser and molester.

Elmo will be able to find a home on one of the myriad children's channels. There will be a place on commercial tv for all of the popular PBS shows. In fact one wonders how long we've been paying for PBS shows that were already virtually duplicated on commercial channels like History Channel, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet etc.

Just how much does Sesame Street merchandise make every year???
PBS is run by such thick-headed Socialists that they NEVER PUT ANY CLAIM on ONE DIME of merchandise from Sesame Street, or any of those other shows. (did not want to sully themselves with the Eeeeeevil profit motive, dontcha know) Leave it to Boxer to paint this as an attack on Elmo. Could those ads they ran when Newt tried to zero their funding that feature Big Bird crying be far behind?
To: Foolsgold
I like that cartoon of Sesame Street thanksgiving, but Big Bird’s wings are going the wrong way.
