DNC chairman: 'We're going to play for the big win' By Michael O'Brien - 02/26/11 11:40 AM ET
President Obama isn't playing for a narrow victory in his 2012 reelection effort, Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Tim Kaine promised Saturday.
Kaine, speaking to party members in Washington at the DNC's Winter Meeting, said that the president's reelection would kick off sometime in the second quarter of 2011.
That campaign wouldn't be looking, though, to eke out just enough electoral votes to put Obama over the top.
"We're going to play for the big win," Kaine told DNC members, to cheers. "We're going to play in every corner of this country."
Kaine explained that locating the party's 2012 convention in Charlotte, N.C. was part of that strategy. Obama won the state in 2008 despite its having voted mostly for Republicans in previous presidential elections. It may be tough to win again in 2012, but the DNC's decision to locate its convention there signals that Obama plans to play with an expanded map.
"We're going to go into territory that the other guy thinks is theirs," Kaine said.
Kaine also formally announced several developments within the DNC and campaign infrastructure as the reelection effort gets underway in Chicago.
As had previously been reported, the DNC's executive director, Jen O'Malley Dillon, will leave the DNC to work on the reelection. Patrick Gaspard will take her place as executive director at the DNC. Kaine also announced that the DNC's political director, Clyde Williams, will depart for private opportunities in New York.
Yes sir.
Bringing the Democratic Party's collection of looney constituent groups to town and turning it into the Charlotte Freak Show is a brilliant strategy!
Voters there should be impressed.
By the way, where in Charlotte will you be staying?
I understand that all of the hotels in town are non-union.
I guess they are giving up on electoral politics and will try and just use their goon squads to sieze power.
He’ll get the usual suspects of CA, WA, OR, NY, MA, VT, Maine and CT. States that he won last time out that he will lose are NH, OH, WI, IN, FL, NC and maybe MI and MN. Tossups will be CO, NM. Add it up and he loses.
Dang! You beat me to it!
Democrats: Sometimes You Just Have To Say “Win The Future”.
While I Love Sarah Palin, I desperately hope she stays on the sidelines and helps choose and support. There are too many in the media who seem to promote the idea of a Sarah Palin run and I believe that is because they are certain that they have the necessary clout and ammunition to assure her loss. The media is what put John McCain on the ballot with the full knowledge that he was a bore and a sell-out with no chance of winning. If possible, they will use the same tactic this year to ensure another Obama victory simply but doing their best to make certain that the Republicans, once again, find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
It is urgent for them to do this now--because with the resurgence of real Americans at the various levels of government, they know it may be a long time before they get another chance.
Obama set the table for them in 2008, but the Tea Party factor of 2010 is not going away, it's growing, so 2012 and thereafter doesn't look good for the bad guys.
"W're going to do some more breaking & entering & vandalism in Republican Party offices, and we're gonna party like it's 1939..."
Bammy himself aint going nowhere.
The Party, the RinoCrat Oligarchy, circled the wagons and made it formal at the STOFU.
The 2012 election will not be a Dem-Repub contest...it will be a RinoCrat-Flyover Country contest.
You see ...the Oligarchy loves Obama because in 2 years he has brought more POWER to DC than in all the previous 234 years. Hes the best thing for the Oligarchs since the New Deal... they re-elected FDR in 36,40 and 44 they were so enamored of what he did for DC.
Obama has gifted so much money to their constituents...their K St customers in the banking industry, automobile industry, even FOREIGN banks have been the beneficiaries of his and the Rinocrat Oligarchy.
There will be NO serious domestic or international opposition to his continuing his rule...EXCEPT from Flyover Country.
Unless turnout across the nation is unprecedented..and the institutional vote corruption that renders Red states suffering Blue representation is addressed, Bammy can anticipate an easy 51-52% to 48-49%
BTW...this business of election fraud is anything but trivial. Its not 400, 4000, or even 40 THOUSAND votes...try 400,0000.....

Its the fraud. And its “bipartisan” -to the extent the oligarchs think it works for them. And if We the People haven’t dealt with it by then...a whole bunch of us Freepers will be sittng around wondering just what happened.
I love the smell of desperation in the morning. Smells like...victory.
That is going to be hard to do with the local ad state gvernments being in Republican hands now. It can only happen in the states with dems in control and last I looked there are not enough of them for many EV.
So Obama will be setting up ACORN and free lap tops to vote straight Democrat in NC more than any other state? Or does this mean more dead people will be voting democrat?
I got news for Obama the idiot. The states Obama stole are sick of the democratic high taxes and control.
Obama could run against Ernest T Bass and still lose. UNLESS the GOP does not get boots on the ground to stop ACORN or whatever their new name will be.
The prospects of an 0bama 2nd term should terrify just about anyone with a brain that loves what’s left of their country. The GOP had better get off their ass and field a candidate that can win. Up to this point, things don’t look promising at all....
Don’t forget the foreign money made when the c/c address function is turned off by Obama’s campaign...and don’t forget the cheerleading media.
Nooooooooooooooooo they weren't campaigning a tragedy in Tucsson what made anyone think this?
In other words cheat more.
When is he ever off campaign mode?
Winning
The
Future
