The Capitol will re-open on Monday for its normal business hours starting at 8:00 a.m. As has been done all this week, Capitol Police will be monitoring the number of people in the building. Capitol Police officials have spoken with and worked closely with the organizers of protest groups at the Capitol, who have agreed to voluntarily remove their items from the building.

They are obviously having trouble managing this mob. Tomorrow afternoon should be really interesting to see who is really in charge.

If I were the occupants, I’d make sure some well-qualified security types went over that building with a fine-toothed comb.

I actually think this has been handled perfectly. Let them have their run and get really tired of sleeping on the floor and eating food that they can figure out how to make in this situation. Tired, hungry, smelly protestors are much mo likely to agree to leave peacefully when asked! Walker and the people working on this issue at the Capitol once again have done a masterful job. It they had tried to evict them a week ago, we would have had a riot on our hands. As for the reality of lasting damage to the building itself, it bet most of what’s needed is a really good cleaning! I bet very little real damage has been done.

re-open on Monday for its normal business hours starting at 8:00

I hope they've learned a thing or two, and filter OUT from here on in, visitors with mattresses, furniture, large signs, kitchen appliances, etc.

You’re absolutely right. I hadn’t thought about anything being left behind; like you, I hope that they go over everything with a fine-tooth comb.

Cops are union.. if it got violent you’d probably have to call out the National Guard cause the men in blue may very well side with the protesters..

According to a friend who actually had business at the state capital this week we're lucky we don't have “smell-a-vision” on our televisions! It will take more than 24 hours to air the place out. Media has done a poor job of showing what the living conditions are like in the capital.

Maybe it's me but the police have a very specific job to do and if they fail shouldn't we start calling in the guard? This is just another example of why we're fighting this battle now, if we don't win than the show is over for real!

My wife spent the week working in Mad-town and got home last night. She reports her hotel has been busy keeping the bar and restaurant open till late in the night, large groups of people from out of state partying till the wee-hours, proudly wearing their union t-shirts. Very loud group with no respect for the folks that got to get up and go to the office each morning at 7am.

Very good point, Walker has handled it really well. He’s been quite impressive. They’ve had their week or two, now it’s time to go. But, over all, from sitting here at my PC, it looks like a crazy mess. I’m sure there will be a few who have a wild hair tomorrow, but overall - I agree with you. They’ll probably leave without a fuss. (but the mess will be another story).

Not to mention, in the mean time, I think they’ve shown their true colors. And for those who didn’t see what left was like, now they know. They behave with disrespect and without regard for law.

Wisconsin Police? Here’s what their union boss had to say yesterday:

THE WISCONSIN PROFESSIONAL POLICE ASSOCIATION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
February 25, 2011
Contact: James L. Palmer, II, 608-273-3840

HEAD OF POLICE UNION ASKS GOVERNOR TO KEEP CAPITOL OPEN
AND ANNOUNCES LAW ENFORCEMENT SLEEPOVER

MADISON—Following action by lawmakers to approve a rule change that clears the way for closing down the State Capitol and ejecting the people protesting Governor Walker’s bill to curtail union activity, the head of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association called on the governor today to keep the capitol
building open and allow the peaceful protesters to remain.

“The law enforcement officers from across the state that have been working at
the Capitol and have been very impressed with how peaceful everyone has
been,” said WPPA Executive Director Jim Palmer. “As has been reported in the
media, the protesters are cleaning up after themselves and have not caused any
problems. The fact of that matter is that Wisconsin’s law enforcement community
opposes Governor Walker’s effort to eliminate most union activity in this state,
and we implore him to not do anything to increase the risk to officers and the
public. The costs of providing security can never outweigh those associated with
a conflict.”

Palmer also announced that, beginning tonight, the WPPA is formally requesting
its members from across the state to come to the Capitol to sleep amongst the
throngs of other union supporters.

“Law enforcement officers know the difference between right and wrong, and
Governor Walker’s attempt to eliminate the collective voice of Wisconsin’s
devoted public employees is wrong,” continued Palmer. “That is why we have
stood with our fellow employees each day and why we will be sleeping among
them tonight.”

Same here. Can’t believe there are mattresses and crock pots in there.

Time for a bonfire of the freeloaders.

Seems odd they were allowed to sleep there and set up house . Conservatives do not act this way. The video is worth watching.

Unbelievable (figure of speech). The clean up begins Sunday, if the police are not going to ask them to leave, then who are?
