Republicans in the Wisconsin Assembly took the first significant action on their plan to strip collective bargaining rights from most public workers, abruptly passing the measure early Friday morning before sleep-deprived Democrats realized what was happening.

When I woke up this morning to get ready for my "private sector" job, I turned on the TV just in time to see the house pubs walking out of the chamber in single file as the dem rats screamed "shame, shame, shame, shame." I thought for a moment, those evil pubs *sarc* just took a page out of the rats playbook.

Needless to say, I had a BIG grin from ear to ear all the way on my commute to work.

At last! This is the way to play the democrat games against them. Keep kicking them until they are on the ground and then keep kicking them to make sure they don’t get back up.

Civility my ass.

It’s good to see the Republicans not just standing firm, but getting on with it. I wonder when the Democrats are going to realize how ridiculous they are running and hiding and then getting upset that life goes on without them.

Rights? They have the right to extort money from people through taxes, and then launder that money back to their political robots who do their bidding? When did they get the right to do that?

You misspelled “abwuptly.” :)

And good on the WI assembly! All they need now is for ONE weasel Dem to come slinking back to the Senate.

... and 1500 people are still going to lose their jobs because of the Democrat's childish behavior.

They sure showed them! They didn’t even give the Democrats time to vote before they declared the vote.

That’s the way to do it.... if you know that the Dems aren’t going to be able to win, why even let them vote?

Which reminds me, Levin had a tape of the former head of the Wisconsin Teachers Union. Darned if he didn't sound like Elmer Fudd.

But the political standoff over the bill - and the monumental protests at the state Capitol against it - appear far from over.

This is the kind of journalism that really pi$$es me off. Can this "journalist" give me an operational definition of "monumental" as used here, or was this word simply chosen for the emotions it evokes? It's sad that journalists have forgotten that their job is to report the news, not proffer their own agenda.

The Dems said it well: “democracy can’t be dictated”. But it can and should be played to the fullest extent of the rules.

Here’s hoping the losers of the game look just like the Obama Administration in the next elections (which may be sooner than we think!)

“... and 1500 people are still going to lose their jobs because of the Democrat’s childish behavior.”

I’m glad you mentioned that. It’s another thing lost in the Democrat rhetoric, that Gov. Walker was trying to save their jobs by it. Birthdays at Democrats’ houses must be fun, both eating cake and yet still having it too.

Wis. Assembly passes bill taking away union rights because Republicans drown kittens and pull wings off flies for fun.

Might as well go all the way with the bias in that headline.

Isn't the WI Senate setting votes on Voter ID and some other non-budget legislation that doesn't require a 20-member quorum? That, more than anything else, should get the dems back in town. The dems despise verifiable voting eligibility.
