BillM, I assumed that you would be able to understand that I was simply comparing the two events. I’m sorry I overestimated your abilities.
What is taking place in Egypt and Libya right now mirror precisely what took place in Tehran in the late 70s. The Left was thrilled to see the Shah booted. Then what?
Then the Mullah’s marched in. That’s already taken place in Egypt. It’s in the cards for Libya too IMO.
Was it a good idea to congratulate the students in Iran in the late 1970s? No. It’s not good to champion those who will do the Muslim Brotherhood’s bidding either.
Look, this is reality. It’s not fantasy. What took place in Iran is happening again.
And you actually thought I was trying to make points off a ten year old kid? Seriously?
Damn.
Yup, I think you were trying to use a 10 year old.
The situation today in the middle east is NOT the same as Iran back then. The Shah was a major western ally. The US provide F14’s and all modern arms. Nobody was even thinking about Khomeini and what might happen if he took over. He was in France.
The point Sarah makes is that the use of military aviation against the civilian population is reprehensible. The US and NATO enforced a ‘no-fly’ zone over the sovereign state of Iraq. It is possible that this option should be considered now for Libya.
At least Sarah Palin is giving an accurate comparison of Gaddafi versus Mubarak. Remember, the US bombed Gaddafi’s palace and killed some of his family.
Where does Obama or for that matter any of the republicans stand on this??
