Self-described "civil rights advocates" say that a ballot proposition to ban circumcision is on track for gathering signatures, meaning that San Franciscans may vote on the measure this November.
The proposed law is being spearheaded by local resident Lloyd Schofield, according to the San Francisco Examiner.
It's part of a national push to end the procedure, which some say is steeped in tradition but poses risks and has little medical benefit. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association do not recommend routine circumcision.
Getting on the ballot is the easy part -- only about 7,000 signatures are required. Once it's there, advocates will have to convince voters that snipping off body parts is a bad idea.
Although some studies indicate that circumcision reduces the risk of STD transmission, others have indicated that the procedure is not worth the associated risks and diminished sexual function.
Several Jewish organizations have weighed in against the ban as well, pointing out that circumcision rituals play an important historical role for many Jews. Schofeld counters that under his proposed law, adults would be free to opt-in to circumcision, but infants would not be allowed to have the procedure until they reach 18.

He had just preformed a bris and was on his way to preform another in different state.
He gave me his business card - he was also a jeweler - the bottom of the card said “now let me take care of the rest of your family jewels.”
He was a very funny man and the flight went quickly.
It’s rather cut and dry. Here’s a tip on the outcome of any ban becoming law. The vote will come up short.
Understanding the practice is a long ways from banning the practice.
I think you are refering to the nazi term “juden rein”.
“Rein” means clear or pure.
Foreskin was a substitute for the child sacrifice in the fires of Moloch.
This must be the PC way to make your town Judenfrei.
And hospitals across the city see their profits decline as the highly profitable maternity wards suddenly are empty..
What idiots.
Circumcision is not a law no one has to get their baby boy circumcised..I was ask if I wanted my son to be circumcised and the doctor explained to me the reason why this is a good thing..
I would say if these queers want to try and make things illegal they should pass a law for these filthy machines to not have sex at all..and put them in jail for the health of our children, they are the ones passing AIDS along to others and tainted blood so little innocent baby's and others get this awful disease..So they want it to spread more by not circumcising ..
According to Jewish law, don't baby boys have to be circumcised 8 days after birth? Seems like this law would be interfering with one's right to practice one's religion.

Genesis 17:10-14:
Gen 17:10 This [is] my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
Gen 17:11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
Gen 17:12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which [is] not of thy seed.
Gen 17:13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
Gen 17:14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
One of my favorite Leo Rosten stories was about a window shopper whose attention was caught by a little place with only a clock sitting in its huge display window. So he went in, a bell on the door dinged, and the baleboss came out from the back:
"Yes, can I help you?"
"I wondered, what would you charge to clean my watch?"
"Oh, I don't fix watches, I'm a mohel.
"You're a mohel? Why do you have a clock in your display window?"
"So, what would YOU put in the window?"
Oooh, no no no no no no no.
Once a woman has experienced the whole, unmutilated organ (no matter what the size) the circumcised version looks like a repelling deformity. And the difference in sensation is night and day.
Still, I am against this anti-Semetic law.
The term is judenrein.
That depends upon whether you believe Genesis 17:10-14 applies to you, or not. If you subscribe to Christianity that feels that certain commandments in the Old Testament are applicable - then the answer is 'yes'. If not, then it's optional.
Besides Biblical (Christian, Jew and also Islamic) beliefs, there are medical justifications as well. I wonder if the Libtards realize yet, that they have insulted Islam? They insult Christians and Jews with impunity, because we are civilized. However, a Libtard is a cowardly bully at heart; when Islam says "Boo" the Libtards will fall all over themselves to appologize to a Muzzie.
You know how the Air Force uses small islands for bombing practice..................................................
I have no idea what part of the country you are from, but down here in Florida, I know of very few women who share your viewpoint. Unless they are lying 100% of the time, I am fairly certain that circumcised penises are preferred regardless of opinion.
Wouldn’t it be fun to edit and repost this story so it appeared that San Francisco was planning to outlaw skin piercing? I can imagine several of their “communities” rioting on the street at just the suggestion.
