Sounds like something that would appear in Calvin and Hobbes (you know, the toy tiger who only comes alive when no adult is present) C&H once did a Sunday strip in which Calvin fantasized about bombing his elementary school into atoms. There seems to have been a clearer understanding of the difference between drawings and actual violence 25 years ago. Today we have less freedom, in many ways.
I recently saw a comment from a German who had lived in America around 1985 and liked it. Then they went back home, only to return recently to have another look. I paraphrase: "What did you people do to your country? You used to be free! Twenty-five years ago, America was a great place, now it's like living in a police state!"
But, like the frog in the pot of water, many Americans have no idea that things have changed.
