Cairo - Egypt's new military rulers faced their first unwelcome diplomatic exposure on Wednesday as Israel reported that two Iranian warships were approaching the Suez Canal to pass through for the first time since 1979. (Snip) "For warships to pass through the canal, approval from the ministry of defense and the ministry of foreign affairs is needed and this applies to all warships owned by any country," a Canal official told Reuters. No notice had been given so far. Neil Partrick, an independent UK-based Middle East expert, said he presumed Iran decided on the ships' mission before Egypt was engulfed

Maybe they will just stop up the canal with them
This should be very interesting.
IMO, we have a Muslim-sympathizing Eunuch in our WH and WWIII is brewing. Happy Wednesday.
According to treaty the Iranians have full rights to passage on the canal. Its not as if they are sailing a
CVN battlegroup through there, its more like a couple of
frigates. And most of their fleet are assault Boston Whalers!
Im more interested to see what Israel will do.
Prepare for a protest against the military government.
Why can’t the newsies give us truly useful details— like the class of the ships as well as their subordination (i.e., the regular Iranian Navy or the IRGC Navy)?
“...one frigate with old anti-ship missiles and one barely armed replenishment ship. “

Hire the NORKs to put ‘em on the bottom of the Mediterranean.
Good call Red,
Obammy the “Eunuch”.
Course I’d say a few more harsh phrases myself concerning this marxist p.o.s.
We could take care of this in less than 20 seconds.
According to centuries old treaties, the Iranians were expected to fully respect Diplomatic Immunity, too.
Didn't stop them from humiliating Jimmy Carruh.
So what's your point?
“Prepare for a protest against the military government.”
Yep. “Tools of the old regime” according to the Jimmy Carter Brigade of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Although interesting to know what ships Iran is hoping to send thru the Suez, another blog site points out that it’s not what warships, but what’s in the holds of the ships, which matters. Iran is now blantantly shipping _goods_ to The Hez and other biligerants in the eastern Med.
Is Israel going to search them, like the civilian ships? Is Iran just going to unload in Syria, or maybe Lebanon or why not the coast of Israel itself?
It would be a shame if they ran into a couple of mines painted with a six pointed star.
Would be a pity if one had a hole blown into the side while docked in Yemen.
