JERUSALEM (Reuters) Two Iranian warships planned to sail through the Suez canal en route to Syria on Wednesday, Israel's foreign minister said, calling the move the latest "provocation" by Tehran and hinting at an Israeli response.
Israel sees a major threat in Iran's nuclear programme and calls for its elimination, but the countries' geographical distance has kept them from open confrontation. Syria is one of Israel's neighboring foes and an ally of Tehran.

This could get interesting. Didn't we just send some warships to the area?
This would be an excellent opportunity for some target practice for our Marines.

Didn’t take them long to stir things up did it? No way Israel can just stand by and let this go...

Gee, it’d be a shame if one of those friggin’ Mossad sharks with a laser beam on its head sank an Iranian Friggate!

Our warships are always in the area. Pray for the sailors and Marines that are part of the MEU.

FOX is showing this as a Breaking News alert. Is Iran doing this to provoke Israel? (rhetorical question)
~snip~
Syria is one of Israel’s neighboring enemies. It has an alliance with Iran which has deepened along with Tehran’s isolation from the West over its disputed nuclear ambitions.
“Tonight, two Iranian warships are meant to pass through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean Sea and reach Syria, something that has not happened in many years,” Lieberman said in a closed-door speech to Jewish leaders.

I agree with Pan_Yan’s photo assessment. The flag is wrong in the photo, yet I expect shadowing of Iran warships by Israel. I believe Israel would be correct doing this action. The action, of shadowing, is prudent given the threats from Iran.

I just hope that Israel lets them get to the Mediterranean before sinking them.
No sense pissing off all of Europe in the process of defending themselves.

Sunk at the entrance to one of Syria’s ports.
Might as well make things difficult for two
enemies, then deny everything.

Does Iran have any ship launched cruise missiles

I’m sure that just like last year’s sinking of the South Korean warship the U.N. would strongly condemn the action without actually naming anyone responsible.
What? Why are you all laughing?

Per FOX - a US warship just went through the Suez... Checkmate?
However, under Obama, it very well could be an escort.:(

Looks like you had the correct flag all along per report from SE Mom (and FOX News). My apology.
Another thread reports this is a year long maneuver (by Iran) without asking for Egyptian Military permission to enter Suez canal, if I read correctly. Thus the clock takes a few more seconds off, edging toward midnight?
