A new poll shows just over half of likely Republican primary voters question where President Obama was born. What’s up with “birtherism” and why does it have such staying power?

The evidence shows Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961. During the 2008 presidential campaign, Obama released a “Certification of Live Birth,” a document produced by the state of Hawaii certifying the state holds records that a person was born there.

Further, two Hawaiian newspaper announcements from 1961 tell of Obama’s birth. Janice Okubo, a spokeswoman for the Hawaii Department of Health, told the Honolulu Advertiser in July 2009 that such newspaper announcements were based on notifications from the Health Department, which received information directly from hospitals.

The certification of live birth Obama released is legally sufficient documentation to apply for a U.S. passport, but it’s not the same thing as a “long form” birth certificate, called a “Certificate of Live Birth” in Hawaii. That document is issued by hospitals and includes additional information not on the certification.

Arrgh, danamco—you’re right. Prof Mel has already flunked me, though, so you can’t even dock my grade. Matthews does lose points for flip flopping, however; if he’d just hang tough, and keep wondering aloud why O’Soetoro doesn’t just show the thing, it would be better.

Now here’s an observation/question. Have not, at once time or another, both of you claimed to be Alinsky? Maybe there was a trifle over one being Papa A as opposed to Prof A, but Alinsky part was solid, was it not?

I'm Papa Alinsky, Prof. Alinsky and Ronald W. Reagan. You ask why, it's because I can and you can't prove otherwise. If you check the trolley busses that we sent to the junkyard, you'll no doubt find this account correct, even as Alinsky I kinda dislike telling the truth, it ain't in my DNA!

He needs a water-cooled oil well drill, he needs a lot of help from a few staffers to carry and look through a giant microscope and a pair of magnetic tweezers. I forgot to say he should open his front zipper first, NOT the back one. I believe the latest C-SCAN located where the "thingy" is; however, it's absolutely futile because the staffers still couldn't locate it and perhaps they should ask Reggie about the REAL location!

The "Certificate of Live Birth" would put it to rest...but he has not and will not produce it.

Many people feel that it would have only been natural for his maternal grandparents, given the conditions surrounding their daughter's activities and pregnancy, to have "arranged" to get him US citizenship in Hawaii for his benefit. No doubt it would have greatly benefited the child had he not qualified for citizenship, and they certainly were not thinking about any run for the Presidency back then.

Given the people who also indicate (his own relatives) witnessing his birth in Kenya, and the lack of the actual certificate that would have been made at the hospital when he was born, the doubt and questions linger and will do so since he is not forthcoming.

For example, his records when applying to college, when flying to Pakistan (his passport), etc., etc. all are being covered up and just add fuel to the flame.

It's a legitimate constitutional question that he should be happy to clear up...I know I would...and should be very easily done. Instead, he has used lawyers and spent a lot of money keeping records from coming to light that would easily put it all to rest.

To any rational person, he is not acting like he has the proof...at the very least he is acting like he has something from those days he is trying to hide.

Whoops. Missed a response on this one. Very interesting theory. But literally, the Kenyan is hiding things. For all we know he might think he was born in Hawaii. But then the evidence is against it. Every scenario thus far came up with points one way or another for him not being eligible. Duel citizen ship. British subject father with a mother not old enough while out of the USA to make him eligible. If born in Canada as suggested here. Again. Your out. Born in Kenya, your out. Being adopted then made a citizen of Indonesia, strike three your out again.
Nothing shown about him thus far favors his position.

You crack me up! I owe you $, for how hard you make me laugh. I would have posted back sooner, but I’ve been at the junkyard, checking the trolley buses. All I got was rust on my hands, but you’re right: I can’t even prove you’re not Reagan, much less Alinsky.

If it’s all the same to you, I’ll pass on asking Reggie love about Soetoro’s thingy. Some things you just really, really want to leave well enough alone...know what I mean?

On a serious note. Did you see the Farah post where he predicted the end is sight for the sorry Soetoro BC affair? I do not for a nano-second believe Soetoro will not run in 2012. Anyone who thinks he’ll drop out doesn’t know beans about the mental/personality disorder known as Malignant Narcissism. I do think Soetoro’s going to end up the political equivalent of gut shot. I’m buying into a spatula franchise, as there will be that many people trying to get egg off their faces in a year or two. ;)
