The HCG diet claims to be natural, promises to help you lose a pound or more a day and even discourages exercise.
But critics and medical doctors say it can be also dangerous.
HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin and is a hormone that is produced during pregnancy. It's detected in the urine of pregnant women.
HCG retailers say it works because it goes on the same concept that a pregnant woman's body will use stored fats to help send nutrients to the baby, even if she is not eating much.

Yes, you have to change your metabolic rate to match your rate of consumption. If you consume more calories than you burn you will gain weight and conversely if you burn more than you consume you will lose weight.
The ONLY way to increase your metabolic rate is to exercise and increase your lean mass.

Well be careful though, if you restrict calories to severly the body will go into survival mode and reduce functions to very basic levels.
eat healthy and you will be thin
Actually I have lost that much weight in the last month on the 17 day diet program.
I would have lost more except for a feast fit for Caligula laid out by my mother for her Super bowl party. I gained six pounds in one night and had to re-lose it to get back on track. if you add the weight I gained and lost again I did lose a pound a day.
Or you could just take 1/2 your food and give it to some baby.
HCG is not crap it has legitimate medical uses, the diet is crap. HCG is just being used as a mental placebo to motivate the “sucker” into going on a dangerously low calorie diet that is well below the individuals RMR requirements.
One of my favorite meals on this diet was 4 scrambled eggs (minus 3 of the yolks)-one of my allowable proteins; with a side of steamed broccoli. By volume, it’s quite a plate full...add a bit of hot sauce and wah-la...delicious!
The only change in my diet was drinking water. My only exercise consists of chasing around my toddler grandson.
Interesting !
This must be the fad diet that is turning most of Hollywood into skeletor freaks. They can say what they want but I’d almost guarantee that these type of diets is what killed Brittany Murphy. She looked like a pipe cleaner doll before she died.
I’m not pregnant, I’m just fat!
I have been on and off of the homeopathic spray since July. I have lost 60 pounds and on the off times have had no problem maintaining. I heartily recommend it.
The Atkins diet does the same thing. If one only consumes protein and fat the body goes into ketosis. It works, but it is not a pleasent diet for a prolonged period.
I understand the idea; getting the body to pull from fat stores while deprived of caloric intake. It seems to me that there are better ways to do this, but we all want instant results, don’t we?
The best plans I have seen have a diet that has the amount and type of food structured to keep blood sugar levels steadily above triggering “hunger” and below the level that causes insulin release. Insulin stores surplus as fat; that is its job. Add in exercise and you are there. Rather straight forward and healthy.
There is just one teensy problem: it takes time, and one is likely to leave behind all of the garbage we shove into our faces on a daily basis. Don’t expect to see this advertised next to acki-breaki berries by dopera anytime soon.
apologize is this was asked yet, what kind of hcg? i read that many store removed theirs from the shelf due to some group or the fda, (can’t remember) calling it a scam.
i met someone who was getting the shots. after 3 weeks she had lost 12 lbs. haven’t spoken to her again, but she had 3 more weeks to go. the medical center where she was getting the shots, had a 6 week limit, and only 3 times a year of the 6 week program.
did any of you that used this diet ever talk it over with your doctors?
there was that professor guy who went on the junk food diet for a month and lost quite a bit of weight. he at the twinkies and oreos, he just stayed under the calorie limit for the day.
however, he wasn’t diabetic, didn’t have a LOT of weight to lose and was a younger guy.
when you have physical challenges, it makes it a lot tougher.
Tell my deceased mother that who died at the age of 54 after years of diet drugs.
