Feinstein: We got no warning
MSNBC ^ | Feb. 8, 2011 | M. Alex Johnson

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., chairwoman of the Intelligence Committee, says the intelligence community never warned Congress or President Barack Obama that a potential revolution was brewing in Egypt — partly because it wasn't reading Facebook and Twitter.

The performance of the intelligence agencies has been debated since Thursday, when Stephanie O'Sullivan, the Obama administration's nominee for principal deputy director of national intelligence, told the committee that they warned the administration of instability in Egypt at the end of last year.

Several senators on the committee challenged O'Sullivan at the hearing, and in an interview today on MSNBC TV, Feinstein indicated that it wasn't true.

"There was a good deal of intelligence about Tunisia [but] virtually nothing about Egypt," Feinstein told NBC News' Andrea Mitchell. "So there was, to my knowledge, no real warning, either to the White House or, certainly, to the Senate Intelligence Committee or the Congress."

It should be easy enough to figure out who is lying.

Funny wording though??????

What constitutes the technical difference between no warning, and "no real warning"?

Very Clintonesque.

Somebody is lying but who?

One way to tell is who has something to lose.

O’Sullivan has nothing to lose by telling the truth. The senator does.

Q.E.D.

Voila!

A real warning is one important enough to divert Feinstien from the busy job of using her position to line her pockets.

What she means is that neither congress nor Obama were given any indication that there was a fundraising or demagogic opportunity in the news coming from Egypt.

Those are the only things that get noticed on their radar.

Horse manure, Feinstein lies as much as Hussein.

They both got exactly what they wanted, to stab Mubarak in the back and clear the way for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Feinstein just wants cover for when she has to face Israeli Jews.

This is a Keystone Cops moment. When "the Obama administration's nominee for principal deputy director of national intelligence" states that the administration was warned of instability in Egypt at the end of last year, yet the "chairwoman of the [Senate] Intelligence Committee" says 'Uh uh, no we weren't', then who's on first?

Could it be that the administration was notified but the work never got to the Senate committee? Could it be no one was warned? Or was everybody warned but don't want to look like the dropped the ball? Take your pick.

Maybe they should listen to Glenn Beck’s “crazy conspiracy theories”. He couldn’t name which countries but he was dead on about some little backwater mideastern country revolution exploding across the arab world.

Its really hard to acknowledge that this smarmy, corrupt senator will probably retire comfortably to her ill-gotten gains, never having had to really face justice.

Not in this world, anyway.

I think what we have here is a lactk of working knowledge in any matter by the liberals. They are so used to being told what to do with information, and what conclusions to come to with it, that if you just give them raw intelligence briefings, they have no idea what's being explained to them.

Now if the CIA analyst explained that there was failing regime support and radical groups trying to destabilize Egypt's banking system, and told them to call all their associates to cash out of Egypt and Egypt bond funds, then they would understand.
