It is amazing the reaction he got to a simple one sentence long bill.
I think the reaction speaks volumes about their fear over this issue. What is the old saying about protesting too much?

Enforcing our constitution is a threat to these people.
That tells you all you need to know.

Why would anyone object to this bill unless they have something very troubling to hide?
To: FreeAtlanta
Just a guess, but the people who are “all wee-weeed up” over the introduction of this bill are likely the same people who throw fits over voter ID legislation.

Why would anyone object to this bill unless they have something very troubling to hide?Sounds like a question that should be asked if a well-regarded police chief were appointed President of an Ivy League university.
(As if, of course. Can't disturb the guild.)

Here are the other "more important" things they are voting on in the Connecicut Senate:
Proposed S.B. No. 52 SEN. CRISCO (D), 17th DIST.;'AN ACT NAMING THE ROUTE 8 BRIDGE AND OVERPASS OVER HULL STREET, ANSONIA, THE "BRIGADIER GENERAL BRIAN F. PHIPPS MEMORIAL BRIDGE"'
Proposed S.B. No. 58 SEN. MEYER (D), 12th DIST. 'AN ACT ESTABLISHING A FEE FOR THE USE OF PLASTIC AND PAPER BAGS AT GROCERY AND RETAIL ESTABLISHMENTS'
Proposed S.B. No. 65 SEN. MEYER (D), 12th DIST. 'AN ACT CONCERNING ACCESS TO ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATES AND MEDICAL RECORDS', to ensure that all adults who seek access to their original birth certificates and medical records are permitted to do so.
I had to stop reading that crap because it was making me sick. If every State is doing what they are, we are all DOOMED!

This law is not needed. Section three of the Twentieth amendment already instructs Congress to verify the eligibility of a President elect. Anyone (this includes state senators and representatives) who has taken the oath of office in Article six of the Constitution has the legal “standing” to go before a judge and demand to see proof that section three was, in fact, enforced. They are breaking their oath of office to “support this Constitution” if this issue is ignored.
To: FreeAtlanta
Gee, a kid has to present a birth certificate to play Little League or enroll in school.
They’re afraid that if enough states enact laws requiring a proper birth certificate, Obama will not be able to run in 2012.
Presenting a proper birth certificate is the very least he should have to do to get on a ballot.

Exactly. Why not a complete resume with documentation on degrees & other pertinent personal history?

He should have made his bill 2000 pages...then you would have to pass it to know what was in it....

a simple one sentence long bill There is NO WAY such a short bill could possibly result in the prevention of slick, duplicitous, immoral politicians, lawyers, and their enablers from FAKING the necessary documents ala Obama.
All of these bills better be VERY specific and demanding in that the documents handed in by the prospective candidate MUST be verified by looking at the SOURCE document, and all supporting SOURCE documents.
For presidential candidates, this should be done by the Secret Service and the FBI, as well as legal representatives from each party involved. Experts may be called in as needed.
That may be the only way to avoid the use of altered or newly created documents.

Other states have also tried to pass so-called "birther bills," most of which are seen as attempts by fringe groups to deny Obama a place on the 2012 ballot.
Do they know something we don't?

Absolutely.
Any recognition of a fixed, objective standard is a threat to people who use arbitrary power to get their way.
