Republican South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint is opting out of an appearance at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), making him the latest Republican to the criticize what some have seen as a pro-gay tilt to the prominent conference.
"With leading conservatives organizations not participating this year, Senator DeMint will not be attending. He hopes to attend a unified CPAC next year," DeMint spokesman Wesley Denton told CNN.
Conservative groups including the Heritage Foundation, Tony Perkins' Family Research Council and Brent Bozell's Media Research Center are boycotting the event over the inclusion of GOProud, a gay conservative group. Other conservatives are upset Indiana Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels was invited to speak. Daniels called for a "truce" on social issues while the country works through its economic problems.
But the list of attendees for the February event includes Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

CPAC has turned into a joke.Good for Demint and the others.
Yes!!! Once the homo’s invade it is no longer Conservative.
Hmmm. A sign he’s running in 2012?

Are the Libs using wealthy queers to discredit the Right?
Way to go, DeMint!!
They need to disinvite the damn queers.
At the same time when Republicans get too close to them the American people vote instead for the Democrats.
It's a double-standard but it's easily resolved.
First, don't attend anything where GOProud attends.
Secondly, don't attend anything where any of Ken Mehlman's buddies are involved in the top end processes ~ and that now involves the RNC itself.
Yes, but it seems the homo’s have taken over. Time to start a new CPAC.....with REAL Conservatives.
Thanks to all who are standing strong.
Wow, I hadn’t heard that Heritage is sitting it out. That’s a pretty big deal.
It’s NOT a conservative gathering and Senator DeMint would be out of place.
Whatever happened to "keep out of the bedroom?" There is no place in Republican politics for a group formed around where men stick their organs. Next there will be a group called GOPouch, a masochist conservative group.
Hmmm... follow Sarah’s lead from last year?
I don’t think it is so much the pro-gay infiltration as the Muzlim infiltration.
If the members of GOProud were primarily engaged in promoting conservative politics to the gay community, that would be OK. But they appear to be exclusively engaged in promoting gay issues into the GOP.
Am more concerned about the pro-Muslim inclinations. . .CPAK is a mess that needs to be cleaned up or out; or be over.
