Though it is embarrassing to admit this in public, I can no longer hide the truth. I have a Sarah Palin problem.
I have written about her in 42 columns since Sen. John McCain picked her as his presidential running mate in 2008. I've mentioned her in dozens more blog posts, Web chats, and TV and radio appearances. I feel powerless to control my obsession, even though it cheapens and demeans me.
But today is the first day of the rest of my life. And so, I hereby pledge that, beginning on Feb 1, 2011, I will not mention Sarah Palin - in print, online or on television - for one month. Furthermore, I call on others in the news media to join me in this pledge of a Palin-free February. With enough support, I believe we may even be able to extend the moratorium beyond one month, but we are up against a powerful compulsion, and we must take this struggle day by day.
SNIP
And so I pledge to you: Sarah Palin's name will not cross my lips - or my keyboard - for the entire month of February. Who's with me?
Dana Milbank is an op-ed columnist for The Washington Post and the author of "Tears of a Clown: Glenn Beck and the Tea Bagging of America."
Note by Kristinn: The WaPo has a poll accompanying the article: "Post columnist Dana Milbank has pledged not to write anything about Sarah Palin for one month. Would you pledge not read or watch coverage of Palin for one month?" Yes; no; I'll try"

That’s Milbank? He makes Richard Simmons look like a lumberjack by comparison.
Actually, that works better as Saraholic.
Great deal of truth in what you said. They get an adrenalin rush from it. Same sort of thing of any addict. In this case the mention of her name gives them a hit...and then they can’t stop.
Second, isn’t stuff like this exactly similar to all the “bully behavior” we complain our kids experiencing?
This is a demonstration in passive violence. If the author decided to refrain on their own, made no big deal out of it, did not instigate calls from other “peers” to do the same thing, the author would be fine. But, the fact they encourage a whole segment to participate in this form of passive bullying is exactly the same as the school bullies.
The author is weak minded and weak willed, undisciplined in their own life and unable to handle situations in an adult and mature manner. All they have left is to play the bully and buddies card.
And they wonder where their kids learn this inappropriate behavior!
Ah. A MINO. There's quite a surplus of them in Liberaland. MINOs see Palin as... the "competition."
If another Tucson type situation happens they will forget this pledge within the hour.
Of course, the Tucson failure by the Left, at all levels, right down to the creation of a martyr, will deter them for awhile.
We are holding you to it Dana.
Wow, now would be the time for Palin to say something provacative. LOL
She lives in their heads rent free. Lord knows there’s plenty of room in there.
So I suggest you ask yourself, 'what powerful need is it that Sarah satisfies?' Is it possible that Sarah is not the actual addiction but a smoke screen for your real addiction? Is your real addiction somehow related to your blind obsession with Obama? Is Sarah perhaps an antidote to your Obama addiction? Does she (in the deeper recesses of your unconscious mind) offer a glimmer of hope for breaking free from the fantasy world in which Obama has imprisoned you and those millions of hypnotized minions like yourself.
Consider for a moment, Dana, that you might have been indoctrinated, against your will, into a cult whose sole purpose is the worship of Obama. In some small and remote part of your mind, the real Dana is desperate to escape from this cult...to return to the fresh air of truth and light. But the Obama mojo is too powerful. His use of neurolinguistic programming techniques generously sprinkled with Kenyan voodoo magick courtesy of his granny has reprogrammed your liberal brain. You try, but you cannot think. Where once your centers of thought were housed, now you find only hot pools of bile.
When you hear Sarah's voice--the voice of reason and logic and sanity--you reach for it. You feel the urge to respond with rational thought and empirical reason. You dig around in your brain for the centers of reason, but all you find are those hot vats of hate-filled emotion. You try to think, to call out to Sarah--to break free from the chains which bind you. You reach down deep into your brain. Deeper...deeper!
"Think, dammit, think!"
But what comes bubbling up to your consciousness is not thought...what comes up is a thick black syrup of demonic hatred. You try to cry out...but when you open your mouth, out pours the hatred with which the darkness burns for the light. Out pours Obama's hatred for Sarah, reality, human reason...and out pours his hatred for you.
Just saying.;-)
They won't be able to go two days with a hit!
First step in a twelve step plan
Pull your head out of your butt and admit you have a problem.
Eleven to go.
LOL - I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Milbank and Simmons have enjoyed playing ‘lumberjack’ together.
Where’s the dang poll? ..don’t see it at the link?
For the entire month of February, I won't read their dreck ... just like I didn't read any this January, or last December or ...
Is this the work of a professional journalist, or a snippy 12-year-old girl with a thesaurus?
It's kind of like eating a triple cheeseburger and extra-large fries with an ice cream sundae for dessert and then saying, "Tomorrow I start a crash diet."
I’m sure Sarah’s quaking in her boots... /s

It looks like The Post has pulled the poll.
Well isn't that special. ...must not have been going their way.
Better question is will your red Dana Milbank?
