A woman kidnapped as a baby from Harlem Hospital in 1987 -- abducted at 19 days old by a woman who had been lurking around the hospital for weeks wearing a nurse's uniform -- has been found alive and well.
Some 23 years ago, Carlina White was rushed to the emergency room by her parents, who handed her to the woman they thought was a nurse, only to return later and be told that their daughter had vanished.
Carlina exclusively shared with The Post her emotional roller-coaster ride as Nejdra Nance living in Bridgeport, Conn. -- just 45 miles from her birth parents Joy White and Carl Tyson in The Bronx -- to their long-delayed reunion.

Hope the reunion works out for them all.
I can only imagine the horror of that poor family to have their infant daughter stolen from them and not to see her again for another 23 years.
Amazing. My BIL was in his forties when he learned that his father, who he had be told died when he was a toddler, was actually living in another state.
they were reunited and he now enjoys an entire family that was kept from him by a vindictive mother.
"White's family later sued the city and the hospital for negligence, and reportedly received a settlement of $750,000. A portion was placed in a trust for Carlina, and was preserved until her 21st birthday. The fate of that fund was unclear."
Why didn't they mention the arrest of the kidnapper?
My thoughts also. If she got her money at 21, why did she wait until 23 for the miraculous story.
The biological parents won the award. I expect they might have even had her declared dead after her 21st birthday.
Those are details not yet covered by the media. Her own pursuit of her birth is the big story.
They couldn’t give her the money if she wasn’t “found” yet.
There is more to this story than has been in the press, I bet.
Too many weirdnesses.
The daughter found who she was from a missing child website?
They can’t find the kidnapper?
Did the lady flee? When?
Has anyone announced a search for her or even her name?
What has the missing girl been doing since she was 16 without a birth certificate?
Could she even get a Social Security card?
I doubt the press will change this from a feel-good story and get to the real issues. My belief is that it was a scam to defraud the hospital and get the $. They just couldn’t end it because they would get caught.
Sit up higher so things don’t sail so far over your grape.
They know where the kidnapper is. Read the article.
Statute of limitations ran out in New york, but not Federally.
The article says, “Pettway, reached at her Raleigh, NC, home, said she was leaving for Connecticut last night.”
“I’m coming, I’m coming, I’m coming back to straighten this all out,” she told The Post.
Fox News said that Pettway has fled and can not be located. Also said that her identity could not be confirmed (as this article indicates. It mentions Pettway had several aliases.)
The NY Post found her, and quotes her as saying she is leaving, but no authorities have talked to her as far as I can find.
