WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. - A Williamson County woman fought off an intruder with a vacuum cleaner. She was desperate for help, waiting for almost 35 minutes for law enforcement to arrive.
The single mom described that 35 minutes like the scene of a horror movie as she watched a man walk from windows to doors doing anything to break in to her home.
It was a startling discovery that Robin Ribeiro made at 2 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday.
"I see a man at my door and Amber is up there and I go there is a man!" said Ribeiro.
But Ribeiro was even more shocked by what happened over the next 35 minutes. That's how long it took for her to get law enforcement to her house.
"I am saying the police 'where are they? Where are they?' And they say they are on their way, they're on their way," recalled Ribeiro.

Exactly, the phrase "castle doctrine" comes to mind.

I hope she buys a gun TODAY.

Who is going to pay it, I bet both the pervert and her don’t have proper papers.
The old "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon" was a fun game to play back in the day. Now in the 21st century it's time to play... "6 Degrees of Sarah Palin". Sarah; responsible for everything in 6 degrees of separation or fewer.
Somebody should check the veterinary clinics in town, see how many dogs were shot during the 35 minutes she was waiting.
She could have told the police dispatcher that she had already killed one intruder and another was trying to break in. I bet LEOs would have been there in less than 5 minutes.
Call 911. But no matter what the actual emergency is, tell them there’s a mean looking dog in your yard. They’ll be there inside a minute, guns blazing.
And a German Shepherd.
On second thought, they suck too.
I am intrigued by this article enough to Google this woman’s name. Other than the attempted burglary article, she bought some athletic equipment of some sort and in the comments section on Amazon she reveals she is a personal trainer. A quick check of the Williamson County, Tn. tax rolls reveals that she lives in Temple Hills, in a dwelling appraised for about $355,000 with a market value near $450,000. That area is located right off Highway 100 and Temple road in a very mature upscale golf course community with the fairway behind the house. The nearest neighbor is approximately 50 feet away and there appears to be a significant amount of shrubbery around the property. Also the article states that there was a third person in the house , a roommate. Having lived in this area for many years I can tell you that is extremely safe, affluent and filled primarily with professionals. The worst type of crime is typically your yard gets rolled. What say you now?
sinanju, there was a case a few years ago in Phoenix where an intruder was breaking into a woman’s house. She was on the phone with 911. You could here the man pounding on the door while she was frantically pleading with 911. He broke it down and he killed her.
Too many women are victims because they have been taught to believe someone else will take care of them. They are not taught to think tactically. If that happened at my house, trust me. There would have been a completely different outcome.
..... I hope the cops took so long because they had to stop and get their Carbon Footprint Kit. Because of all the right wing vitriol, it would not surprise me to learn that the both the intruder and the vacuum lady are both Palin-influenced robots. Since they obviously do not recycle, the law says both must be incarcerated
I called 911 - not so much because this was an emergency, but to point out that if the po-lice hopped right on by there was a good chance the clowns would still be within blocks.
A deputy showed up almost two hours later, pointing out that he'd been across town 'running an errand' for the captain. Opportunity lost, for sure.
Sometimes running away isn't an option. She should have had a pump action 410.
