Maureen is his biological child,She asked her parents if she could have a little brother and they adopted Michael. That is why Maureen was so fiercly protective of Michael.

>>>>>Just for the record, Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman had two biological children, Maureen and Christine, who was born premature and died the following day. Thanks for your input. If you had READ what I posted, I was responding to a reply that incorrectly stated, "Notice the three he had with Jane Wyman are respected, productive members of society? Christine did not live and she never had an opportunity to be a respected or a productive member of society. In the context of the thread, her politics are unknown. Should have said they had one biological child who lived. Happy?

Didn't make him incompetent. Hence my "correct," which denoted agreement with your statement.
But he was slipping.
Amazing how some of the folks on this thread are afraid to admit it.

My exhusband finally let us know he wanted to be with men after being married for a year. I have talked to many exwives of gay and bisexual men. It happens.

...One of my biggest regrets is not taking my grandson to DC and to pay our respects to President Reagan when he died. I wish I could have gone too. That was a terrific example honors and memorial done right.
However, my brother did bring my 80+ y/o mom to DC and waited (among the respectful and friendly people) to pay their respects to Ronnie in the Rotunda.
Incidently, my mom has three photos together on her wall, my dad, Ronald Reagan, and Frank Sinatra. (Oh, there are plenty of other photos in the room, but those have a certain special place.) I think those guys were the only competition my dad would have had to win my mom's heart.

"Slipping" does not equal incompetent.
We're all "slipping."

I think I remember reading that Ron & Jane had a child that was miscarried or died at birth.

Like that really makes a difference.
My bother in law is gay, and about half of his gay friends were married at one time. He also knows quite a few that are still married.

If Reagan's Alzheimer's were bad, he wouldn't have been out in public or done the speeches that he gave. And no amount of "coaching" would have covered it up. None. Ronnie Jr. has a history of making petty attacks on his father. It's sad and tragic that Reagan would have a spiteful son like that.
What's amazing is that if Reagan had suffered from Alzheimer's during his presidency, he sure as hell a better president than Obama who is suppose to be in perfect health.

Ron, who became a liberal and atheistSeriously, what does that tell you? Sounds like he had issues. Probably didn't get enough attention as a child.

Ronald Reagan was my favorite president. Is it possible some early warning signs were there - yes. Doesn't matter he was still an awesome president. It's also possible that the early signs were just normal signs of aging and little Ron is making a connection that isn't there. But as for having surgery or not - our local paper DID at the time of the accident publish that he had surgery to relieve the pressure. I didn't realize there was any question about that. Now granted a lot of newspaper reporters ARE knuckleheads and they could have had it wrong. But they DID print that and I remember being very worried about him and thinking brain swelling can't be good at his age.Later on when I heard he had Alzheimer's I remember wondering if the blow to the head contributed to it.I agree that Ron's assertion that doctor's found signs of Alzheimer's while looking at his brain is silly.Signs of aging perhaps, and maybe they said something along those lines and he's stretching it to fit his scenario. As far as I know you don't diagnose Alzheimer's that way.In any event they only remove a portion of the skull to alleviate swelling. They wouldn't have been looking at his whole brain or inside his brain. If little Ron thinks so he's ignorant. Oh wait -
