Two days ago, Instapundit/law professor Glenn Reynolds assailed the politics of blood libel in the Wall Street Journal.
Today, Sarah Palin issued her own poignant, but fierce rejoinder against the vicious smears of Tucson massacre opportunists and drew on Americas enduring strength to pay tribute to the victims.
They criticized her for not saying anything.
Now, theyll criticizing her for saying something.
The blamestream media is already up in arms can we still say that? over the use of the phrase blood libel. Ben Smith at Politico has an exchange with Glenn Reynolds about the term here. Jim Geraghty notes that leftists have had no problem applying the phrase to the GOP.
The more moronic of Palin-bashers will simply gnash their teeth because she said blood.
Idiocracy: The new normal.
IF we allow it. HOTUS and his henchman just make up stuff, twist and turn it every which way and pass it off as brilliance.
Great people are remembered for what they do or say in times of great stress. The attacks leveled by the MSM over the past few days have to compare with what Lincoln endured during the latter stages of the War Between the States. At Gettysburg he chose brevity over oratory - just as she has. One can only hope that her words are as revered 145 years from now as are his.
The "shoe shine boy" reference to African Americans is outdated.
Nowadays, the phrases "shoe shine boy" and "not worthy to shine ones shoes" are used across the aboard about people of all colors.
I agree, and I wonder if she didn’t release it on the day he is to speak, just to undermine his showboating once again.
It was an excellent move! Obama Can’t match it!
Is that comedy? Making sport of dead pets?
If a little 8 minute you tube speech can overshadow a President, then he must be pretty small (and not that bright).
“The blamestream media is already up in arms can we still say that?”
Yes we can.
And they must be counter-attacked. I can still say that, and I did.
Folks, politics is war without the shootin’. It has to be this way. Truly free political dialogue cannot exist any OTHER way.
It the left can succeed by restraining the rhetoric, they will win the arguments and ultimately, the battles as well. Control the words that comprise the conversation, and you control the conversation itself. It’s the left’s intent to do exactly this, and by doing so limit our efforts to resist their subterfuge and subversions.
We should not lower our aim nor lose sight of the target.
Carl von Clausewitz said that:
“War is not merely a political act, but also a political instrument, a continuation of political relations, a carrying out of the same by other means.”
If you DON’T want “the shootin’”, you’d better be able to handle political rhetoric.
When the left fires blindsides at us, it’s time to fire back.
At a higher calibre!
Thanks for writing so succinctly what I thought after I heard her speak.
Yer bait’s no good funny boy.
