Within an hour of Saturday's tragic shooting in Arizona, the Twittersphere had quickly seized on a map put out by Sarah Palin's political action committee last year that had gun-sight images over the congressional districts of House Democrats she wanted to win for the GOP in 2010.
Among her targets: Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona, who was critically wounded by a gunman Saturday. His motives, authorities say, are not fully known. But friends of the suspect, Jared Loughner, have suggested that he had held a grudge for at least three years against Giffords dating back to when he met her in 2007.
Still, some believe that incendiary rhetoric like Palin's bears some responsibility in the tragedy. Giffords herself had previously raised concerns about Palin's map: "The way that she has it depicted has the cross hairs of a gun sight over our district. When people do that, they have got to realize there are consequences to that action."

LOL - I have this recurring fantasy of getting those fake bullet hole stickers and on one dark and stormy night going to my local Target store and past them up. I’m wondering why it’s not happened anywhere by now.
This indeed could be a “defining moment” for Palin,
where she boldly and loudly denounces the leftwing media
for their politically biased coverage of this tragic event.
Flowers on a grave?????????
Huh..no no..flowers on a map instead of those surveyor symbols
The media keeps pointing out they’re target symbols whereas they’re not. I’ve seen several news websites where they keep showing that map, continually. Then of course there were those Dummie-crats calling them targets as well.
What should, what will Sarah say in response to the gross attacks on her?? Key questions.
Can she do a map of the MSM and put certain people on her crosshairs, would that be over the top?/s lol
I think she should turn to President Reagan’s favorite weapon: Buy 15 minutes or half an hour of national TV time to address the issue.
I’m just saying that the left would accuse Sarah of wanting those people dead and thus the flowers.
Why did she take it down after being questioned about it? Why didn’t she say anything about surveyors when Gabby asked her about it two months ago? All this could have been over had she answered her when asked. This is a mess that I hope Sarah can get out of but it will be full force during 2012. I think Sarah may wait until 2016 now.
Just back from the TMZ website and according to them SP’s graphic is still up.
Just back from the TMZ website and according to them SP’s graphic is still up. As for the graphic itself. It’ll be the media who’ll keep posing that Palin is partly responsible.
Yahoo “News” is an oxyMORON.
It just pisses me off. Even if this nut had been a tea partier which there is no evidence he was it wouldn’t have meant anything except that he committed a murder. What we see right now from the left is the same type of thing they always do just worse and that is an outright attack on liberty. We have hundreds of people murdered in places like Chicago (25 died in Dec 2010 alone) and the media has no outrage for that. Instead they take a horrible incident like this to use for political ends. How many times has a workplace been shot up that may have been fueled because of a media that preaches entitlement and race baiting?
If anything those elected in Washington are lucky given their very public in your face crimes involving trillions of $$$ and total disregard for the sentiments of the people that it is just nuts targeting them because God knows they in their arrogance have earned worse.
Those graphics were taken down after the election.
Nothing worse than a conservative who lies or distorts. She just took the map off on SATURDAY. That is WAY past the election.
This is simply from the article:
So far, Palin’s team, angry that the former governor is being linked to the shooting, has struggled to contain the controversy. On Saturday, the map citing Giffords was abruptly pulled from the SarahPAC site even though it remained on Facebook. Rebecca Mansour, a Palin aide, said on Twitter that the map was pulled because it “was no longer relevant” since the 2010 campaign was over.
Welch grabbed a microphone and said, "Have you no shame, sir? At long last, have you no shame at all?"
McCarthy was right. Welch was wrong. But the media took this soundbite, ran with it, and pretty quickly turned people against McCarthy.
I don't know if it could be done today (given that the media hates Palin) but it would be nice if Sarah could drop any pretence of politeness or civility and just say that she is ashamed of the groundless propaganda -- the embarassing partisan nature -- of our current press corps.
Conservatives are peaceful and honorable. Leftists have been promoting violence for years. Lay it out. Make the case. Allow the American people to see at long last, that the media has "no shame".
She needs to take it down and let this die down. She has 300,000 folks on Free Republic and 2.5 million on Facebook who most likely guarantee a vote for her. She needs a ton of Independents who probably are finding these stories disturbing at best. Yes fine it is not her fault but she was questioned by Gabby herself about the map and Sarah did not come out and say they were “surveyor markings” at the time.....WHY? That is ALL SHE HAD TO DO and this story would be nothing or at least lessoned. Anyway, I am not running for President so I don’t have a personal interest in this, but hopefully Sarah does something to defuse the flames NOW. She has done it before but she is being awfully quiet right now. A quick Facebook post and a very short e-mail to Glen is not her normal fight.
