Following the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), some Democrats are targeting political rhetoric they say could encourage violent behavior.
Steve Israel, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said the event was "both a personal tragedy and a tragic reminder that we cannot remain silent when political rhetoric turns violent."
Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) said, "America must not tolerate violence or inflammatory rhetoric that incites political violence."
"Even though we do not have all the answers yet, we are all too familiar with the violent and polarizing climate in which we live," said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), the new chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. "Those of us in leadership must be overly cautious of fanning the flames of extremism in hopes to prevent another horrendous tragedy such as this."
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence called for a return to civil political discourse.

Isn't that interesting that when an Islamic terrorist murders people, they fall all over themselves explaining that it's just an isolated incident, but when a really insane lone gunman shoots a Dem representative, it's the fault of everyone, except the perp.

You missed the point.
Liberals know fully that rhetoric is not to blame. Liberals actually hope this shooter has some ties to the Tea Party or conservatism so they can use the power of gov't to silence us once and for all.
Watching liberals foaming-at-the-mouth yesterday over this story was sickening.
Of course, it turned out that the shooter was another liberal, so these evil people will pull back and wait for their next opportunity.

The brazenly hypocritical attitude of the leftists in the democratic party must be challenged.
This link shows some of the rethoric they engaged in and got no condemnation by Democratic politicians or media.
The shooter was a crazed liberal who followed his loved leaders Lenin and Hitler.
It seems to me the Democrats have gotten what they asked for.
Unfortunately for them he chose them rather than a Republican.
The Liberals will not retreat because the shooter was a liberal they will just say he went crazy and employed Tea Party tactics.
And it's probably even worse than that, since by at least some indicators, the shooter is a left-wing lunatic, admirer of Karl Marx and Adolf Hitler.
But Geraldo & company won't report that.
They keep insisting the man was "confused," and then they carefully select out of his rantings language which sounds somewhat "conservative."
Even as you read this, they are feverishly working to find some how, some way to pin it on Rush, or Glen, or, who knows... Free Republic?

There is a bit of a timing problem that is really getting on my nerves, but doesn’t seem to be discussed. That is:
Whatever anyone thinks of Giffords (I personally like her for a number of of reasons, regardless of some of her positions), there is no political reason to even care about her, much less try to kill her, at this time, as SHE IS (essentially) POWERLESS in the House, given the Republican 50 vote majority. A year ago...yes, even a month ago, she held some swing power. But even Tea Party nutcases (assuming there are any) have much bigger fish to fry (i.e, worrying about RINOs), now that the Dems have been swept out of the House. I doubt any conservative, anywhere in this country, is wasting more than 1 minute a week getting riled up about what the Democrats in the House think. THEY ARE HISTORY as a political force - at least for the next 2 years.
“inflamatory rhetoric” = telling the truth about leftists, their beliefs, and their goals.
Anything they can do to shut down that truth, they’ll do.

Looks like the dems are using this as an opportunity to silence political dissent, hoping the public doesn`t catch on to the fact Loughner is on their end of the spectrum. While the Republicans and conservatives express condolences and prayers for the victims and families, the libs attack us as the cause. Those bastards never seem to lay off the politics..even for a minute.

The Left uses violent and inflammatory language all the time. They’re also dishonest and unscrupulous. Conservatives get blamed for everything in this country. If the country is going to be run by the unprincipled jerks on the Left, then it will be going downhill.
Interesting none of them expressed concerns about “inflammatory rhetoric” when the moonbats were openly calling for and making movies about the assassination of GWB.
In order to come to the conclusions that leftists come to,
you have to start from a basis that assumes certain myths and lies are true.
So, yes, “mentally ill” does apply to this particular brand of politics.
Take great care not to ape the left's dishonesty. Listing a couple of books in an internet profile does not constitute "following his loved leaders."
The main work is to bring the mudslingers (both in Congress and in the MSM) to account for pandering and inflaming with their half baked blather.
