Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said Giffords was the target of a gunman whom he described as mentally unstable and possibly acting along with an accomplice. He said Giffords was among 13 people wounded in the melee that killed six people, including Arizona's chief federal judge, a 9-year-old girl and an aide for the Democratic lawmaker. He said the rampage ended only after two people tackled the gunman.

1. Reports now state the shooter is an atheist whose FAVORITE books are Mein Kopf, The Communist Manifesto, and We The Living. He also posted on his youtube page that his favorite video was of an American flag burning.
2. Most likely the shooter worked for the congresswomen for re-election.
3. Most likely the shooter was mad that the congresswomen voted against Pelosi as the House Speaker.
4. Most likely the shooter is a homosexual.

A former classmate of Loughner at Pima Community College said he was “obviously very disturbed.”
“He disrupted class frequently with nonsensical outbursts,” said Lynda Sorenson, who took a math class with Loughner last summer at Pima Community College’s Northwest campus.
Sorenson doesn’t recall if he ever made any threats or uttered political statements but he was very disruptive, she said. He was asked to leave the pre-algebra class several times and eventually was barred from class, said Sorenson, a Tucson resident.

Whos to say the Federal Judge was not his intended target? The shooter was obviously a lunatic that should have been institutionalized long ago and politics probably had nothing to do with this. Will be interesting to hear his history over the past few years.
The sheriff should not be making any statements about the mental condition of the suspect. While these are just the sheriff’s opinion, they can jeopardize the trial.
But, I am sure the sheriff’s political is far more important than a conviction.
