That is really good. I have an idea. All media will be classified as hard news, or commentary. Each media outlet will be required to label each program. Failure to do so or misleading the public will result in loss of license.
If they do this, then they cannot get away with ruling by judicial fiat with the media covering for them. The people wouldn’t allow it.
Global Warming on Free Republic
important bump
Change it to 5 days and I like it.
What we are seeing is the use of lawsuit settlement agreements to create humongous programs without public scrutiny, hearing or environmental review. That is what is happening right now with the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement and removal of the four Klamath Dams. The negotiations included environmental groups, fishing groups and tribes but not the affected public. The settlement agreement among them sets up a “coucil” of the same bozos as the planning authority for the region. Again, local people are not invited to the table, not even the people who actually live around the dam reservoirs.
Siskiyou recently had an advisory measure on the ballot and more than 85% of the voters did not want the dams removed.
2011 should be a fun event to see how Obama&Co. will try to obtain more of it’s unconstitutional power grab.
Given the performance of the Republicans since November so far, the RINOs are still in charge, and happily attending a little congenial cocktails parties with Demo “buddies.”
Not much of a sign that things will be different.
The RINOs who got their walking papers proved to their constituents that they were the trash that needed to be taken out. Their behavior was notably vengeful. The RINOs remaining are waiting to do the same damage with what time they have left, because they’ll be next.
Washington will not change with less than 100% discipline in the GOP. But the Repubs can’t seem to stop rewarding the most floppy members to chairmanships (it’s “their turn” after all — “Rep. Hal Rogers of Kentucky as chairman of the Appropriations Committee and Rep. Fred Upton of Michigan as chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee” [sponsored bill to ban light bulbs] — Washington Examiner).
Don’t know much about the other appointments, but chairmanships alone prove the GOP will assume room temperature in 2011.
Well, except you do not have to have a license to write an article or publish a newspaper. And it should never be so.
Sorry, Congress would never go for that.
“Well, except you do not have to have a license to write an article or publish a newspaper. And it should never be so.”
I agree. As Conservatives, we have nothing to hide and welcome the opportunity to tag commentary as Conservative. We pretty much do that now. Only Liberal Elitists would not go for it.
I would think newspapers and magazines who follow a political ideology would be proud to announce to the public their leanings as it would give the public a better understanding of who they are and what they represent.
Just my dos centavos
Cancel the legislation against the incadescent light bulbs, also, please.
It is beyond stupid.
Let that be a choice-—not a mandate.
“Washington will not change with less than 100% discipline in the GOP.
And herein lies the problem. Being Republican does not mean being Conservative. A political party no longer reflects ideology and core beliefs. It reflects a label. And a good percentage of Repubublicans are Republicans because they believe in some of those beliefs, but not all.
As an example, both my wife and I are Republicans. While I toe the line on Conservative values, my wife has no interest in dealing with social issues. Her belief is in a strong chamber of commerce and a secure border because she is a business owner and as such, has no confidence in what the Democrats are doing.
Unfortunately we have politicians who feel the same way.
Yeah. He's only 50% better than what we had at this time last year. We need to cripple him with a primary in 2012 and make sure we re-install a democrat majority.
Is nothing ever good enough? Of course we have rinos in this Congress. Not everyone lives in a red state. We take what we can get and push on. A small victory is better than a small defeat.
We need to see layoffs, salary cuts and pension renegotiation.
Oh, and all health plans must be switched to 0Care.
We have to show these people some support. Upton, Issa, Bachmann and Flake need to hear from us with strong support to let them know they are not standing alone.
