NASHVILLE, Tenn. Two men walked into a packed east Nashville restaurant and robbed it at gunpoint, forcing 40 people to the ground.
Metro police said around 11 p.m. Wednesday, two men with what looked like pantyhose over their heads walked into the Holland House on West Eastland Avenue.
One of the suspects was holding a sawed off shotgun and the other had a handgun.
About 40 customers were forced onto the floor.
"When you have someone willing to come in and try and control 30 to 40 people in any type of setting, obviously there's a propensity for violence in those acts," Metro Police Capt. Chris Taylor said. "Just if by chance if they make a mistake, have their finger on the trigger and it goes off, the chances of somebody getting hurt are 10 fold."
The men stole some of the customers' items but focused mainly on the restaurant's money.
"The first thing that came to mind was, Are my neighbors OK, was my staff OK.' Thankfully everyone was," owner of Holland House Terrell Raley said.

True enough. I mostly do, sometimes don’t on-body on a road trip.
Oh, and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!
Marche is not far - geographically - but it is quite distant culturally. East Nashville is truly an area where a matter of 10 or 12 blocks is night and day. Marche is surrounded by thriving, well attended restaurants, bars, small businesses and such. The neighboring residential block are well-tended homes. Holland House literally abuts the ghetto area where the locals hang on their porches and walk around with one hand holding their pants up.
There is a cure for that situation. Its called open carry.
I probably posted too much to comply with some kind of copyright thingamagig, so I’ll trust the moderator on that call.
LOL...I did flush out all the swear words and replace them with things like F*** and S*** but I know that is too much for some people, so I replaced them with “mother ******” and so on, but it still might have been too much.
I have a friend who works for a national company that introduced mandatory drug testing. They had to replace more than 75% of their Nashville work force.
My kinda place. Kinda like my house.
So do they allow concealed carry in that restaurant or not?
I can’t think of any place that is improved by large numbers of Muslims.
That was my thought. But to tell the truth, if I was in that resturant and had my pistol I would think I would have to be very careful using it with that many hostages. I recall from my concealed carry class that I am responsible for the bullet I fire from the moment it leaves the barrel to it stops.

This poster is spamming this thread with multiple same posts and links. He/she is also making broad generalizations which are mostly unture and with no evidence.
I don’t know this poster personally but like Emmett and fullchroma and martin tell we all live here and this is just hype. Nashville with a 30 something percent minority population in city proper does have issues but East Nashville is not quite the cesspool described here and this poster’s allegations against the police chief are unfounded.
Could you tell me what the area around Belmont University and the southern part of Nashville is like?
it’s a fancy cocktail bar with minimal food
a hipster spot for the under 35 crowd with money to spend...10 dollar libations
East Nashville has some nice spots...it’s the bohemian area sorta, homosexuals too and just pioneer white kids...and so forth
surrounded by black hoods some which are really bad and some not as bad....and to the north lies working class whites in Madison which has maybe the largest most feral group of white “wiggahs” or whatever one wishes to call them I’ve ever seen
Nashville in it’s worse white areas has the most lost group of young black acting white kids I’ve ever witnessed. It’s heartbreaking...and we will deal with the ramifications forever.
But those who live in Nashville’s plentiful pretty and better off areas never have to see all that crap.
I don’t miss it but calling East Nashville horrible to the degree the other poster did is rather inaccurate.
Belmont....a former antebellum mansion owned by Adelicia Acklen...a beauty of note in her day...is now a college covering what looks like around 20-30 acres on a hilltop about 3 miles south of downtown center.
To the north lies Music Row area...dead at night but fairly safe
To the south lies Belmont blvd....expensive...very liberal..old Victorian homes and gentrified Prairie style bungalows...leads to Nashville's huge southern spreading moneyed areas...a swath of wealth from Belmont that stretches for 20-30 miles to Brentwood and Franklin and beyond into deep Williamson county..the South's equivalent of Westchester county NY or Fairfield cty NY...fans out from Belmont and then Green Hills and Belle Meade between I-40 and I-65 and even east over to Nolensville road...it's an amazing swath of the American dream
To the west is Hillsboro Village and Vanderbilt University...shopping, food, clubs...pretty safe
East....this is where it gets dicey towards 12th ave south...some projects NE of Belmont about 4-5 blocks away...but due east there is student housing and some old home gentrification and then Melrose area of Franklin road...used to be homosexual area now just some underground clubs and a nice pool hall...in the basement of course.
I would say Belmont is a 7 on the safety scale for an urban school.
Both my girls got accepted there but one chose Lipscomb for more conservatism and the other chose NYC.
Fullchroma lives near there...she may have something to add.
Belmont is a good school...a lower ranked first tier southern private school or top ranked second tier..depending on who you talk to
but who cares about all that...I was at a fancy law firm downtown last year and they were laughing about how the UT grad and the Georgetown grad got paid the same..
Belmont does have a great Music Biz degree so I hear..Happy New Year
We moved out in the country summer 2009 about 25 miles south...but I drive thru daily.

20 years ago before DA Torry Johnson, Judge Tom W. Brothers and Mayor Karl Dean turned Nashville into a mecca for Drug Dealers and muslim pimps, Nashville was rated one of the best places to live in America.

East Nashville is nothing but a Haven for Crack Dealers and Prostitutes protected by Mayor Karl Dean and District Attorney Torry Johnson. The Police Chief Ronal Serpas was running a protection racket for the drug dealers. Nashville Judge Tom W. Brothers was indicted for drug money laundering.

Yes it is a shame what Mayor Dean, Judge Tom W. Brother, DA Torry Johnson and Police Chief Ronal Serpas did to Nashville.
The muslims that Mayor Karl Dean brought into Nashville have certainly ruined this once great place to live.
