“Wed play hell getting them to build weapons for us.”
Exactly, we’d run out of bullets and boots in no time. But I’ve been told by many freepers that it is the free market in action, and it’s good!
In reality, we’d quietly walk away. There would be no fight, Obama would write a stern letter, and that would be the end of it.
Heres a way to stop the whole thing. Give Taiwan nuclear weapons and a few submarines from which to launch them. Neither side is likely to use them as neither side comes from a suicide culture. (Unlike Islamists, who exult in suicide.)
Ill guarantee you when Obambi failed to respond to the Chinese invasion of an island claimed by China and Japan, that Japan began their own nuclear program; constitution be damned. When Obambi responded to the North Korean sinking of the Chonan with a stiff note saying he highly deplores that SK started working on nukes. Taiwan was paying attention and Im sure they did too. Ill bet they all rang up the Israelis and invited the trade delegation or ambassador for tea.
Id be shocked if all three dont already have working prototypes ready to test. Theyll do it someplace quietly when the satellites are all over the horizon. But theyll all need a credible number of nukes and survivable platforms from which to launch them.
Id also guess youll see a new alliance: India, Israel, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan. All of this proliferation will lie at the feet of the man who so wants to emasculate America and turn the world into liberal fantasy land

It’s hard to picture Obama taking decisive action like Truman in 1950 or George H. W. Bush when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. This is the guy who took months to make up his mind whether to send any additional forces to Afghanistan. The Chinese may figure that their best bet to take over Taiwan in the near future is while he is in office. But they may decide that a re-elected Obama would be even less likely to do anything than one who is running for re-election, so action after November 2012 may be more likely than anything before then.
Of course, if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will come by and correct me.
This won’t happen because China has boxed her self in. In three words, Three Gorges Dam!
Back in 41, people in the US and the wider West had greater tenacity and could digest casualties. It’s not the same now. Look at Iraq and Afghanistan.
The US ‘nudged’ Taiwan and South Korea to end their N-programmes long ago.
Taiwan had a nuclear weapons program decades ago; we leaned on them heavily and made them stop it.
For one, other than US no other regional power can target the Three Gorges. Secondly, attacking the dam would be in theory similar to attacking a city. It’s not like the Chinese don’t know that they face a nuclear threat.
And it’s not like they dont have the means to respond either.
China doesn’t need its military to hurt us; it already builds so much for us that cutting off trade would hurt. Add in calling in our debt to either hyperinflate the currency or demand the right to buy off shore oil leases where Americans have been banned or buy up federally owned “wilderness” to mine or farm as they are doing in Africa today.
Think of China as an ant hill.
A most dubious assumption. I could make a killing on Intrade with that.
This scenario doesn’t sound that outlandish to me at all, particularly given the state the economy is liable to be in by 2015.
Calling Tom Clancy. Pick up on the red phone!
.....could it?
I’m no strategerist but I’d think that hordes of cannon fodder are still useful for invasion, urban warfare, demographic warfare, and a followup after biological warfare.
That point taken, in all honesty, they would kick our collective Socialist asses!
But there is not much to worry about. They also know that now, we have become our own worst enemies and will soon be the cause of our own end from within ourselves.
That is when China will emerge as THE World economic and Military super power. They will have a force of over 2 Billion and will be able to mobilize them to where ever they need them. Believe it!
