BALTIMORE (AP) -- A person with knowledge of a federal campaign-finance investigation says a criminal probe has been opened into whether Delaware Republican Christine O'Donnell broke the law by using campaign money to pay personal expenses.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity to protect the identity of a client who has been questioned in the probe.

Remember...the evidence is online:
http://www.fec.gov/disclosure.shtml

I’m not an accountant, so maybe someone else can figure out a way that it is legal, but it sure looks bad to me.

This is the woman who got caught lying to potential donors at out of state events and then went nuts when caught, trying to cover it up with another lie.

She’s a lesson that just because someone spouts conservative lines, she’s not necessarily a true honest conservative.

The Feds have resources to look into their political opponents, but the case against voter intimidation by the black panthers is thrown out?

Delay, Palin, O’Donnell...

Who’s next?

I don’t support our players getting a free pass when they do things wrong, but some of this (and with regard to at least some of these people, all of this) is pure unadulterated politics.

Fine. When do the probes of the 535 members of Congress begin?

Where is the probe of Coons’ spending?

Why is Rangel still a free man?

Richard Nixon is spinning so fast in his grave that it's likely to throw the Earth off it's current axis.

Heck, when I was looking at presidential campaign filings this morning, John Edwards’ campaign was the only one with an expenditure filing for December 2010. (Note that Obama for America was rolled into the DNC, so it’s not there.)

Running for office at that level is a full-time job

How do you pay your food and rent if you cannot fundraise and use it to live?

All I would ask is full-disclosure. You buy a hamburger at McD’s and you keep track of it.

Now.. I am so glad that they got time to do this after the exhausting search to get to the bottom of those sequentially numbered campaign donations to Obambi from overseas. - wait, they didnt?

I hadn't seen any complaint filed against him. Did you file one? Please point me to it.

Not everybody has sufficient personal wealth to take off from work to run for the US Senate so long ago a law was passed that allowed Senate candidates to finance personal expenses, including housing, clothing, etc. out of campaign donations.

This makes it so somebody other than rich guys can run.

I hope you don't have a problem with this idea

If you get a minute, clue me in on what you’re talking about. Never did follow Christine too closely, so I’d be interested in hearing the tale.

Sounds very fishy. Federal investigators do not normally explain the what or the why when they are doing an initial investigation. The source sounds to me like her client initiated the contact and made a complaint and is using the press release to convict her in the public arena.

Just my initial thoughts.

Probably, or AP just made it up. I’ve heard they’ve been pushing this space-alien story too
