Glad you liked it. That's one of my all-time favorite movie scenes. Another similar one was when Indiana Jones (in Raiders of the Lost Ark) takes out a sword-fighter with a single shot from his pistol (which may have been the genesis of the saying "Never bring a knife to a gun fight").

I was told that Ford was very sick that day and wasn’t up to all the fight scenes so he asked the director “Why can’t I just shoot the guy?” The director said OK and they ended up leaving it in.

I am not sure if he was the first to say it but the first time I heard it, it was “just like a wop to bring a knife to a gunfight” and it was Sean Connery in the Untouchables.

Funny story about the single shot from Raiders is that it was complete improv by Harrison Ford. As I recall the story, Ford was very sick and was supposed to use his whip to disarm the guy but couldn’t. After a few takes with some whip misses and injury, he just pulled the gun and shot the guy. It was so great they left it in and it’s become one of the more famous scenes from the movie. Amazing!

It wasn't.
