WASHINGTON Senator Scott Browns decision to buck his party leadership in recent days on the dont ask, dont tell military policy and on a nuclear arms treaty has set off a new wave of anger among some of the activists who helped elect him and renewed talk among conservatives that he might face a primary challenge.
Tweet 1diggdiggYahoo! Buzz ShareThis Some Tea Party movement leaders who dislike Browns votes acknowledge that the Massachusetts Republican has demonstrated his independent and pragmatic streak, and by doing so may strengthen his chances at reelection in 2012. No primary challenger has emerged, and it is unclear whether a newcomer could wage a serious fight against Brown and his $6.8 million war chest.
But the threat of a primary challenge from conservatives as well as the potential that national Tea Party groups will withhold financial support appears to have grown, according to the movements activists. Browns votes in the past week follow his crucial support for the overhaul of financial regulations, which remains a particular sore point with conservatives.
I think that there will be a primary challenge, said Christen Varley, president of the Greater Boston Tea Party. Theres enough of an underground movement in the Tea Party movement as seeing him as not being conservative enough. There probably will be multiple people who attempt to run against him.
Varley said it is too early to name a possible opponent, and she acknowledged that Browns campaign war chest and statewide organization would probably be enough to fend off an opponent. But if Brown has to devote energy and resources to a primary campaign, it could put him at a greater disadvantage in a general election in which...

"Would I do it again for Scott Brown?" she said. "Probably not."...

Since that he has effectively had no useful purpose that I can see.
Pretty sure that in 2012 he will be properly dispatched to the Republican heap of failed candidates.
Brown has disappointed me so much. :-(
And he shows profound disrespect for the MIRACLE that got him elected in the first place!
There IS hope for people from MA though. I am originally from Boston.
Let the Dems finance their Trojan Horse, Mr. RINO Brown.
People who've been watching the scene up there for many years find it difficult to understand how they could have voted for a guy who had been in the military with service as an officer, and who was not molesting his daughters.
I'm sure it's a miracle of sorts.
The other Republican in Massachusetts was equally amazed.
Clearly she has her fans ~ and they usually expose themselves as Libertarians, or they don't really live in Massachusetts, or whatever.
Ms Varley would not make the grade as a Conservative or TEAPartier in Virginia ~ not even in Arlington County.
My guess is, if the newly in power GOP in Maine doesn’t screw things up, the odds are better of getting rid of Snowe than getting MA to vote out Brown. MA seems to be totally lost like California and a few other states.
The majority of voters who helped Ronald Reagan carry Massachusetts twice are now dead, and the rest have retired to other states, especially in the South! Also, the entire U.S. was much more conservative back in the 1980’s compared to now, thanks to the ongoing and worsening: political correctness, judicial activism, political indoctrination in government controlled schools, political bias in the MSM, and “dumbing down” of the general public. Unfortunately, the MAJORITY of what the political left continues to control are in non-elected jobs, worldwide.
“The majority of voters who helped Ronald Reagan carry Massachusetts twice are now dead, and the rest have retired to other states, especially in the South!”
LOL! Can’t argue with that assessment.
“Also, the entire U.S. was much more conservative back in the 1980s compared to now”
Then again, the “Greatest Generation,” who defeated Nazis and socialists in WW II, elected the commie symp socialist LBJ in a landslide. Figure that out.
I have to conclude that Americans are nuts in various ways at various times.
Merry Christmas to you and yours, johnthebaptistmoore
I will say it again - go to any large gathering of people and look around and ask yourself what type of future is most likely with these people voting.
Case closed.

Not sure what you’re trying to say, glock.
We are not the same people as we were in 1980 or 1984. We are a weaker, fatter, more dependant, less proud, and uneducated population by and large.
We have had three decades are communist indoc since reagan that has largely worked.
We are a tiny fraction here, but the overall society is worse than you think.
Talk about leftist spin -they not only put lipstick on the pig, they as well outfit it in Victoria's Secret lingerie...
When will the leftist media realize their lies are transparent and their opinions irrelevant...
You don't support Scott brown and then you'll get someone that is for your “fags” and for illegals destroying the U.S.A.
I think you are a democrat.
Good points.
“We are a weaker, fatter, more dependant, less proud, and uneducated population by and large.”
You have no idea how much I disagree with you.
We just elected 650 patriots to state legislatures and control 30 states. We are not weaker, fat, less proud and more stupid.
With 30 state legislatures we can start countless brushfires that the criminal fascist syndicate occupying Washington doesn’t have the manpower or resources to control.
Join us, Glock.
Maybe you confuse what you would like to see with what you claim is the best that can happen for the marxist state of Massachusetts? Of course if you are really happy to just worry about the checkbook while the principles that premise our founding and society get flushed down the toilet that is your choice.
Massachusetts may prove exceptionally resistant to "getting with the program" and drag their feet; however, that does not mean the rest of the country waits for them -they should be left behind to swim in the cesspool they want to create. IF they continue to left idiots and continue to promote socialism and debt then let them suffer the consequence. IF Massachusetts, California, Illinois, and on and on want to take a dive off the cliff and bankrupt themselves -let them! In fact, help them do it!
They WILL get with the program one way or another. Resistance is FUTILE!
There are some glimmers of hope like the mid terms. I agree with you completely on that, but seeing a guy like bama get elected and people like reid reelected etd really does not sit well with me.
