DOVER One national columnist has speculated New Hampshire's own Judd Gregg, who recently retired after three terms in the U.S. Senate, is considering a run for the presidency in 2012.
Jonah Goldberg, editor-at-large of National Review Online, cites the Republican as acting like he's not running "but hasn't ruled it out."
As Gregg's term wraps up and the holidays approach, no one is available to take calls at his offices throughout the state and in Washington, D.C.
The listed phone number for Gregg's home in Rye has been temporarily disconnected, according to a recording.
Republican Strategist Mike Dennehy said speculation about Gregg running for president might be "wishful thinking" because of what he accomplished in the Senate, and since he had retired from that post, this would be a way to continue his career.
But an online search of "Gregg for President" does yield several results mostly speculation from various news agencies that peg the senator as a shoo-in, should he choose to run officially.

I gotta beg off this one, P. Too much analysis for my brain tonight, I'm afraid.
You've probably got it figured right.
Merry Christmas, bud.
Hey. You are a fine & able sparring partner. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
I don’t buy that. Now if someone pulls a Fred, then it will be too late.
Another NE RINO? I guess he should run, if only to take away votes from Romney.
An old milquetoast RINO—yeh that’s a winner. Just ask Bob Dole.
Heh....at least I'm persistent, eh? LOL
Hope Santa is generous to you and your family. Have a wonderful Christmas, pissant.
He’ll win NH, and that’s it.
The Rinos will be splitting their vote if he runs and that can only be good.
Consuela...hehehehehehehehehe!
