(CathNews) Santa will not be visiting students in St. Peter, Minnesota this year. Muslim immigrants got him cancelled. The MinnPost reported, via Pat Dollard:
Santa Claus, as portrayed by Dennis Jackson, wont be visiting students at the Head Start classes in St. Peter this year.
Jackson has made appearances the past four years at the classes for students who need help preparing for school, but this year officials said, No, no, no.
The reason: The classes have many immigrant children who dont celebrate Christmas, says the Mankato Free Press.
Santas a little frosted, the paper says.
It kind of burnt me up, he said.
The official explanation from Chris Marben, who coordinates regional Head Start programs through Mankato-based Minnesota Valley Action Council: We have Somali families in the program. Were respecting the wishes of families in the program.
She didnt say how many objections were made, but said more than one would be enough to cancel Santa
Jackson said hes played Santa with children from other cultures before and they were fully comfortable with him. He said its their parents who are being unreasonable.
Theyre not respecting the majority, he said. My feeling is (objecting parents) can take their kids out of class for half an hour and let the other kids enjoy it. They should sacrifice, not rule.
You are 90% correct, and I agree. It’s the “must” though, (”Must eat Bacon day.”). Government cannot and must not compell individuals, to suspend their personal liberties, at the expense of someone elses personal feelings. Which is Ironic, given that is exactly what they practice. We are a Christian nation. Yet Christians are the only ones required to suspend their personal liberties and freedoms. Fostered by the very Government that is charged with protecting those liberties, for all. Non-Christians that have imigrated here, if offended by our Christian culture, need to re-think their choice to do so. I don’t imigrate to their nations for a reason.
Dam strait! Invite em out to hunt pheasant, and have em do some bird-doggin! Then pull a Cheney!
I wonder if they would have cancelled Santa’s visit if fundamentalist Baptists had complained?
The answer would be that Santa is a secular character and not related to the religious holiday at all and that the “fundies” should just take their kids out of school that day if they are too “closed-minded” to handle it.
I’m so sick of taking Islam’s crap! If they don’t like our holidays the way we celebrate them, they can kiss my butt!
Good point! And at this rate, how much longer do you think that city name ... and St. Paul, too, for that matter ... will remain?!
>>So you cant celebrate Christmas in a town named for one of Christs disciples?
I can see a time coming where that changes too.
I am with you and do not believe that the government schools should COMPELL the students to any of these such actions, but that is already what is going on with regards to global warming, homosexuality, abortion...
Parental rights mean nothing. Students are outright told "your parents don't know everything and were born in an age of bigotry".
The State indoctrinating the students to disregard and disrespect the teachings of the parent.
They shouldn’t be questioned at all. Their opinion does not matter.
I would bet you’re correct, because I know some Somalis, and they wouldn’t be so forward as to object. I’m sure somebody “helped” make these complaints on their behalf.
Do they NOT understand the word “assimilation”?
Do they celebrate the moslem holidays in this school?
Didn’t some people in the City of Angels get upset about a cross that was visible from public property?
This is really outrageous. But it’s becoming more common every day, worldwide: tender Muslim sensibilities get offended by the majority culture around them, they howl, and the majority changes.
Last month, a science teacher in Spain was teaching an elementary school class about climate and he explained that the nearby mountain region had cool, dry air, which was why it was ideal for curing ham (Spanish jamon serrano, which is like prosciutto or US country ham). Spain in general and that region in particular are famous for their hams.
Believe it or not, the parents of a Muslim “immigrant” child (probably Moroccan) filed a complaint with the school about the fact that the teacher had mentioned ham in the classroom. He was actually served with a citation by the police and has to appear in court.
Shameful and depressing. Ham, a controversy, in Spain. Oye Vey.
Sharia Rising.
Never mind the facts, it’s the feelings that matter.
I don't think anybody is going to try to say that was Los Angeles establishment of religion - or that because of that tiny detail in the “official” symbol - that Christianity is the preferred religion of Angelinos.
It was there for HISTORIC reasons! The city was started as a Catholic mission IIRC.
Enough already
Amen!!! That is why I attend school board meetings now. I never used too. Never to late I guess. More Conservative parents need to show up. Not showing up is what got us to this point. Voice your opinion. Show up armed with facts, and don’t back down.
However, if Muslims wanted to bring in a similar Muslim figure or celebrate some Muslim holiday it would be welcomed as diversity and foisted down the throats of Christian children. If these Somalis want to live in a perfect Islamic state, I’m sure there would be no shortage of donations for one way plane tickets back to Somalia.
This is how it all starts ..lil by lil they will start taking away our traditions..and they get away with it..
Send these bastards back to their mud huts, poverty, starvation and extremists war lords.
