FReeper PAC discussion thread
Free Republic ^ | 12/18/2010 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 12/19/2010 7:55:43 PM PST by BuckeyeTexan

Saturday night, December 18, 2010, Jim floated the idea of forming a political action committe to organize an effort to defeat the RINOs in the upcoming 2012 and 2014 Congressional elections.

"Yup, I do believe it’s time. We need to organize an anti-RINO PAC and get it going in all 57 states to support and elect True God and Country Conservatives™. We can do it!! FReeperPAC is born!"

472 posted on Saturday, December 18, 2010 6:46:47 PM by Jim Robinson (Rebellion is brewing!! Nuke the corrupt commie bastards to HELL!!)

Many FReepers expressed interest in helping with the PAC, posted research/resources, made relevant suggestions, offered advice, etc. It's time to move that effort to its own thread.

Please continue you contributons here. If you posted important information to the other thread, please consider re-posting it here. You will not automatically be added to the FReeper PAC ping list. You must request to be added if you want to receive pings to important updates.

We have three or four freepers with PAC leadership experience. No one has yet officially offered to run it. But I don’t think we’ve reached a decision on whether or not we need a PAC. It could be that we need directed political activities assigned to members of the group.

I know some are waiting for my “executive summary” of forming and operating a PAC. Perhaps I should focus on that so we can get the group to review it and open discussion on whether or not we want/need a PAC.

I have been a treasurer for a couple of organizations (not of a PAC) but IANAL, so I’m not sure I should offer to do that job. I will if we can’t find an exerienced treasurer or an retired attorney.

I have gotten a couple of freepmails offering help in putting together a website for FReeper PAC and specific suggestions from experienced PAC leadership.

With all due respect, I suspect using the "Freeper" connotation is going to be a non-starter.

JimRob should insist on some kind of veto power and in the case of a disagreement, he'll necessarily yank the authority to use the term.

In which case any ostensible leadership of the PAC will have to defer to the de-facto leader, and that will compliacte filings I suspect.

In regard to tracking our RINO targets, please see the suggestion at #140.

Is that feasible? Would it be too much for a mod to do?

If so, would you permit a small group of FReepers to manage those target accounts. (i.e. Several freepers would know the password to the “RINO_LindsayGraham” user account and be able to update his home page with data about his votes and deals.)

I am a n00b. Someone tell us about the good ole days starting around 1997. I do not know about the good ole days and how this activism then gave way to concrete action. So, another one of the Framers, please come forward. Information is the key to every lock....imho

sam_paine, your comments were excellent.

Others have voiced their opinion, I see some 1998ers and 2000ers.

Could we ping those who have been around here since this forum began for their opinions?

I’m not sure those that would replace them won’t turn and be as bad as those they replaced. However, I MOST DEFINITELY AGREE in principle and want to be a part. Those two Senators in Maine have to go.

Brilliant! It would be awesome if we could help a dem that we’d already researched get nominated, and have all of our rocks ready to drop on him in the general election!

That’s great! I hope we can get a chance to read it one day. I myself am writing a little manual on how to apply Alinsky’s tactics to get what we want, as conservatives.

We can use forums like FreeRepublic and other real conservative sites to check out whoever we’re considering. Maybe get a small group of good folks in each state we’re targeting to vet possible candidates, meet with them personally, and hold them accountable from the very beginning.

But you’re absolutely right. One of the biggest problems with RINOs is that they are always willing to stab us in the back. WE have to figure out how to stop that.

Exactly. The PAC would be a more permanent undertaking. It would require a commitment that it may not be able to find individuals to give it. Also, if it used Free Republic as a spring board, it will tie the website to specific political activities. We would need to be clear on what those were and come to an agreement with this forum's owners.

I am sure that there is sufficient brain power among the membership of Free Republic to run a PAC. I am not sure that there is sufficient desire.

Please add me to the PAC ping list.

From the Albany NY area, and I will
help this effort.

Great idea.

I understand what you meant, but I want to take this opportunity to reiterate that this is not my project. These are not my goals. I am not managing the project. I'm just fascilitating discussion. If we decide to pursue a PAC, we'll have to identify a leadership structure.

Any volunteers? Hint, hint, Class of '98!

WE have to figure out how to stop that.

Ephesians 6:10-18 (New International Version, ©2010)

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people...

Thus far humblegunner has been compiling the ping list. Please add me to the FReeper PAC ping list. Have we started a blog yet for this project? :-) :-) :-)

“Seems like the value of FR is in the awareness and news distribution. Not sure how much pull we could have in the big-mo arena.”

What if the PAC manager(s) were to form an alliance with another one? It likely wouldn’t be a big fish in the pond alone, but there is strength in numbers while still having control over some of the funds.
