Can anyone just march into a recruiting office and demand his constitutionally guaranteed civil RIGHT to serve? Or does he first have to qualify? Mentally, educationally, physically, healthwise, morally, etc?

More to the point, since miltary service is government employment, when will they be “given” their Penumbrally Emminating Right to collectively bargain, and join SEIU?

I served during Vietnam with a number of homosexuals who were discrete. I'm not even sure if DADT was in effect back then. If it was then it was successful and nobody complained.
Removal of DADT WILL have dire effects on personnel morale and will most likely require a whole new set of rules for the UCMJ..............

My son, a Citadel senior, also cannot serve due to peanut allergies. He is also very disappointed.
Well, that was the question. Seems there are some people (mostly leftists, including congressional reps and presidents who wouldn’t or didn’t serve even if they could) who act as though service in the US military IS a constitutionally guaranteed CIVIL right and that there should be no moral standards or considerations whatsoever.

Leftist politicians define a Civil Right as anything that will help them get reelected. RINO’s follow along like the little lap dogs that they are. Hence homosexual rights, transsexual rights, illegal immigrant rights, descendants of slaves rights, feminist rights, so on and so forth.
The destruction of our many institution through the advancement of this self-serving philosophy is not coincidental. Our military is one of the few institution to escape this debasement. The left is determined to put an end to this aberration to their left wing vision.
