Can the conservatives in America put 1 million angry citizens on the capital steps in 48 hours who are prepared to camp and stop Pelosi,Reid, and the Marxist congress from destroying our country. Folks, this lame duck session is way over the top and out of control and needs to be stopped. NOW! Lets put a million people on the capital steps and be heard..........red
By summer there will be tent cities in D.C.
Stop paying taxes. No travel involved.
If Demint can make the clerk read the whole Start Treaty can we get someone else to do the same for the Omnibus Bill?
Peaceful protest doesn't do any good.
You are dealing with people who have NO SENSE OF SHAME OR HONOR. You can't humiliate them into behaving, because they have sub-human ethics and pre-socialization emotions.
They will kill you and your children in order to enjoy your property. How do you chant and bumper-sticker your way out of *that*?
Freedom is getting to the point where it dies, or it kills.
There's only 1 option left. And the majority of Tea Party protesters/campers/marchers, God bless 'em, don't have the stomach for it.
“We can pray to The Father”
Today, McConnell shot down Demints planed reading of START
I walked the halls of the Senate office building a week ago and didn’t see more than 3 or 4 other “civilians” in the Capital building. This while the compromise was being struck. Phones in the offices were busy but no one seemed overly concerned.
Just saying, the Senate and House masters are safe and cozy in the cocoon of DC.
Short answer. No.
You could probably arrange a ride through ACORN. You will need to spout leftist prapaganda on the trip. But, it could be done.
That has been tried. While there was some success, it was not nearly enough. Alinsky style, it might be worthwhile to change tactics. What if we targeted certain dems, RINOs and media types and went to their homes? It would have to be people that lived on public streets...no trespassing into gated communities and certainly no threats of anything. We could just do flash mob type stuff. A few hundred targeting one person in their own neighborhood could be way more effective than a million where they know they have the best security in the world.
rednek - you could put the entire contry on the steps and down the mall and all over town and it wouldn’t matter. Those who have been voted out of power will not listen anymore. They are grabbing what they can while they still have the power to do so. We cannot stop this. Our best hope is to get the next congress to do what they can to cut any funding they can that supports the bills this lame duck congress is passing.
when they are ready to show up with rifles and ropes, I’ll be there. otherwise, I’m not wasting my time and money.
In my opinion: no
Glenn beck couldnt even get a million with months of planning. Conservatives are pissed, but we all work. The left has their professional protestors to call upon (aka AstroTurf). I’ve gotta work all week so I certainly couldn’t do this & I doubt my situation is unique. I try instead to disseminate info to all that I can, raise my kid to think like I do, and I pray.
Sorry. I’m sure that’s not the answer you wanted.
GRRRRRREAT post! I saw that guy at the 912 rally in D.C. in ‘09!
Good idea, rednek...but may not be necessary. With 2012 gains like ‘10...and then 4 or 5 election cycles holding and gaining a majority of tea party patriots and then playing WHACK-A-MOLE with any up-and-coming TOTALITARIAN/RETRO-GRESSIVE punk POS...we can relegate these cretins to the dustbin of history, urinate on their graves, and rollback the poison economic pills they’ve planted in the republic.
I’ve been in D.C. twice in the last 2 years. I’ll be there again when necessary.
Life, liberty and the pursuit and destruction of totalitarians.
He understood our situation better than most of the people on this board.
He understood our situation better than most of the people on this board.
I know exactly what you mean.
I am, and I have an idea how to do it.
I work until midnight Friday, and then dont need to be back until about noon Monday (though I might call in for Monday if we do this).
Im willing to drive my minivan from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Washington DC and back, starting from an agreed rally point at 12:30 AM Saturday, with at least three but no more than five GR FReepers (the van will hold seven, but six will be more comfy). Each person should have cash for gas and tolls for the group, and meals for themselves. There would be a fifteen to thirty minute break every three to four hours (that is, at the three hour mark the driver would start looking for a roadside stop with fuel and amenities). Driver relief would be voluntary, but expected.
On arrival, the van would make one complete circuit of the Beltway, and then proceed into the city across the Arlington Memorial Bridge, east along Independence Ave., past the Capitol to First St., north to Constitution Ave, west across the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Bridge, back onto the Beltway.
But wait, theres more.
We would proceed along the Beltway to the River Road Exit, take River Road until it crosses Nebraska Ave NW and becomes Wisconsin Ave NW, follow Wisconsin to Massachusetts Ave NW, left on Massachusetts, past the Observatory, around DuPont Circle to Connecticut Ave NW, south on 17th St past the White House, to Constitution Ave, left (east) on Constitution to 14th St, left (north) on 14th to Massachusetts, to Wisconsin, to River Road, and out of the city.
And then home.
No marches, no speakers, no bands, few if any signs. No parking. No porta-potties. Just a quick driving tour of the city.
So what?
So this. How many others in the Grand Rapids area have cars and can get away from early Saturday morning until sometime Sunday?
How many in Kalamazoo?
How many in Battle Creek? Lansing? Ann Arbor? The Detroit burbs?
How many in Cadillac, Kalkaska, Traverse City?
How many in St Ignace, Sault Ste Marie, even Marquette?
And this. How many in Illinois could do it? Indiana? Ohio? Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia? How about it, Tennessee? Georgia?
Could we get a thousand FReepmobiles to show up in Washington, on the same day, driving the same predetermined route? Imagine the sight, on that part of Constitution Ave between the Washington Monument and the Ellipse, with a line of Freepers completing the first circuit going west, and another line of them halfway through the second going east? And what if they had their horns a-blowing?
Could we get 10,000 cars? A quarter million? Can you imagine a caravan that long, horns blowing, not stopping (except for traffic signals), just looping around the Seat of Government? Just a few minutes per vehicle, but hours on the ground.
No muss, no fuss, and we all go home. Some of us even make it to church next morning.
No schedules, apart from meeting people with whom you would be riding. We dont want to arrive all at once; just a steady stream throughout the day. I would expect that if my group could leave by 12:30 AM, wed arrive around 2:00 or 3:00 PM and be back home by 6:00 or 7:00 Sunday morning (thats a mental SWAG, and I could be way off).
Well, it seems like a good idea to me, and Im willing to do it.
Not alone.
Im going to do something I havent done on purpose before; Im going to post this in three or four promising threads, and then Im going to close my browser, and go do other things, and leave FR alone for 36 hours. When I come back Friday morning, Ill be looking to see if this idea has taken root and flourished. Ill be looking for FReepmails from GR FReepers wanting to ride along with me; from other FReepers who will bring their own cars and carloads; a couple thousand posts from several states, each indicating a desire to participate.
See ya!
Not all conservatives. Some (like me) are retired and I have the added benefit of living only 100 miles from DC. Can be there in a couple hours.
No.
