Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska, urged Americans not to forget Haiti as she spent the weekend in the earthquake-ravaged country, the Associated Press reported.
The onetime vice-presidential candidate declined to answer questions from reporters at a brief news conference, saying, We dont need to be getting political here today, O.K., folks.
Ms. Palin had joined the evangelist Franklin Graham and his organization, Samaritans Purse, in a tour of the devastation. In her brief remarks, the A.P. said she urged a military airlift of supplies.
I know that theres been some discussion of U.S. aid perhaps being lifted from this area, she said. Again not to get political but if some of the politicians would come here and see the conditions, perhaps they would see a need for, say, a military airlift to come bring supplies that are so needed here.

I am very familiar with the circumstances on the ground there and I assure you that they do not have the resources they need.
Neither do we.
And before you say, yeah but, we waste ours.....so do they.

Sorry, but I doubt it.
This is more of a photo op to her.....those are the cold, hard facts.
My guess is that she will not mention Haiti again in the next 2 years.

What good will we be to anyone if we dont take care of business here at home first? It rubs me the wrong way when people with more means than most of us are constantly telling us how we have to save the world. How much is enough? Im having trouble keeping my own head above water.

Seems to me that whatever she does it will never be enough so we get you dont like her can you move on.
Do you have any idea of the resources which are required to sustain one westerner in Haiti? How about one westerner followed by 100 photographers?
If she brought some skill nobody had tot he ground in Haiti, it would be justifiable. As it is it is a photo op.
Remember when Bush didn't go to Katrina because he didn't want to get int he way or use valuable resources? That is how disasters should be handled.

Haiti needs regime change to go along with the aid. We ought to take it over as a US territory in order to bring stability and prosperity to the Haitians. If that goes well, we can do the same thing with Mexico.

The aid for Haiti that Sarah is requesting is very minimal
Minimal to WHOM?
You can buy a lot in Haiti with very little....and we send a lot.

OK Obama, its a photo op without the media, cuz they have blocked them out. - That’s why the sour grapes.
Samaritan’s purse is thousands of people like Sarah and Todd, and they all work.

Honestly, do you believe she would be there for one second if she did not have Presidential ambitions?

Forget it....if PDSers cannot even abide a Christian charity fund-raiser at Christmas time, they are surely lost.

Wrong! - Jesus Christ can solve the crisis, and that is the key to Samaritan’s Purse’s effort there. Under Aristede, Christianity was shut out, with Clinton’s approval.

They were invited by Franklin Graham, in hopes of giving their mission there more visibility, and thus more funding, and volunteers.
My guess is that her presence there will help in accomplishing that goal to some degree, but to those of your mindset, its of no effect, I’m sure.

What resources do you say they need, that will not be left to rot, stolen and ruined, or otherwise wasted?
