Boehner: Obama disrespectful to me By: Jake Sherman December 12, 2010 05:30 PM EST

John Boehner thinks President Barack Obama is engaging, smart and brilliant but also remains smarted by the president accusing him of taking taxpayers hostage to secure a tax break for the rich.

In an interview with Leslie Stahl of “60 Minutes” for broadcast Sunday night on CBS, Boehner said Obama showed him “disrespect” by calling him a hostage-taker.

“Excuse me, Mr. President I thought the election was over,” Boehner said, according to a transcript obtained by POLITICO. “You know, you get a lot of that heated rhetoric during an election. But now it's time to govern.”

The relationship between the president and the incoming House speaker was set to be the focal point of the Sunday night piece, the most recent foray by Boehner into prime-time news.

Their most recent example of working together bore fruits for the GOP. The deal Republicans secured on the Bush-era tax cuts, which also extend unemployment insurance, has the GOP giddy. Boehner said he found “common ground” with Democrats, but said he rejects using the word “compromise.”

Boehner’s kind words about the president also come with a caveat: the two see the world very differently.

“I think he's engaging,” Boehner said in the taped piece. “Certainly smart. Brilliant. But— you know, we come from different backgrounds. And I think our view of the economy— is also very different.”

I will admit Obama is brilliant when we see his college records and it says so, until then he’s Al Sharpton with a descent face

There is evidence of brilliance..Obama sparkles..and glitters..a brilliant cut has several different varieties

Perhaps Boehner should have referred to Barry as a "dazzling urbanite". At least that would've been funny.

I like Boehner but he needs to get a grip and stop crying on National TV. It is disconcerting when World Leaders cry on TV. It will be seen by some as a sign of weakness or mental instability.

Boehner, we are in deep trouble with you in leadership; if you expect to get respect from Obozo or any in his administration. We The People need leadership; it appears that with Boehner we have none, respect is earned, not granted. What shall we do; McConnell is failing and now so is Boehner. Much trouble ahead for We The People.

“John Boehner thinks President Barack Obama is engaging, smart and brilliant”

I’ve got a pretty reasonable IQ, and I don’t see this at all. Makes me worry,,,,,,,

I also disagree with the “engaging” part.
He’s such a snooze-fest that even the skits about him on SNL aren’t even remotely funny. It’s like watching an actor or talking head read his lines -— neither entertaining nor illuminating.

Senator Boehner, he is disrespectful to all of us and this new 35 percent death tax deal shows disrespect to all those who voted for the republicans. No deal. Wait until the monster democrats are gone and then do the plan, the one month tax is cheaper than the death tax.

Different backgrounds is correct ..one comes from Ohio and the other Kenya.

One grew up almost as a spoiled only child (and it shows) the other grew up with lots of brothers and sisters to learn to share and compromise.

One had a solid family background, the other not so much...

I think Boehner should continue to take the high road and let the troops nail Obama where he stands. We here, at FR,,we are the troops! John doesn’t need to worry about the heat,,we’ve got his back, esp when it comes to President Obama!

[Boehner: Obama disrespectful to me]

Boehner needs to toughen up and stop bawling or stop giving interviews. I gave him a pass with his crying after the election, it was historic and he looked like he had thrown back a few.

Then he goes on the enemy’s propaganda show, 60 minutes and starts bawling again, it got so bad I thought he was going put his head in Leslie’s bosum and have her patting his head to comfort him.

That was the end of my confidence with him leading the House.

Yeah. Let's see the college transcripts.

----- From Sweetness & Light ----

We do not know for certain what Mr. Obama studied in his undergraduate days. He claims he majored in “international affairs,” which seems a bit unlikely for an undergraduate.

And, as the article states, his degree from Columbia is in political science — not international affairs.

Moreover, we do not know why he was accepted into these schools in the first place. Obama himself has suggested he did not have the grades to meet their requirements.

By his own admission, Obama spent his final two years in high school skipping classes, playing basketball, doing cocaine and getting drunk.

Similarly, his admission to Harvard Law school is highly questionable. Where are his LSAT scores? And how does one graduate from Columbia without honors and yet get accepted at Harvard Law?

Lastly, his ascendency to the Presidency of the Harvard Law school would appear to have also been a case of blatant affirmative action, since the student Obama had only written one legal paper — and that was quite short and remarkably undistinguished.

So where are his grade transcripts? So where is the honest and open leadership that Mr. Obama has promised us?

Boehner is up against a racist , who hates him. Not because he is Boehner, but because he is Obama’s vision of “The Man”.

“You are not going to get anywhere calling this man smart and expecting him to respect you.

The only way to treeat him is from a position of power. You give Obama an inch and he will take a mile.

Fight him tooth and nail for two years while we find a real American President.Stop trying to play Mr. Nice Guy, He will spit all over you.”

Right on target, Venturer.

This "brilliant" BS is getting old.
