Petraeus Aide: Soldiers Who Can't Handle DADT Repeal Should Leave Service

Troops who can't accept the idea of overturning the ban on gays in the military should consider leaving the service, says a senior aide to Gen. David Petraeus.

Command Sergeant Major Marvin Hill tells TV One's "Washington Watch" that he believes "the troops are ready" for the repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.

"If there are people who cannot deal with the change, then they're going to have to do what's best for their troops and best for the organization and best for the military service and exit the military service, so that we can move forward -- if that's the way that we have to go," Hill says in an interview with Roland Martin, scheduled to air Sunday.

Hill says it will be up to military brass to "set the tone" for the rank-and-file in accepting gay service members.

"We know that if there is a change, that that change will have to be led, and it's going to have to be led by senior leaders such as myself and -- and others across the battlefield," Hill says.

you forgot that Rome also fell due to having people in the military who were not Roman and had their loyalties to their tribes.

I guess we already do that in the U.S. military with groups such as the Northern Alliance. I will agree that the loyalty to the military of those who want to end DADT is pretty crooked though. I mean, the military asks for a degree of discretion regarding one’s sexuality, if one either can’t or won’t, combat duty is not where you should serve.

Of course it is an agenda and another way for the public to accept homosexuality.
If they got don’t ask repealed then the next thing will be federal benefits for queers, and so on and so on.
Don’t ask is another step ion their agenda and the sooner people see this the better just like homosexuals having their sham marriage , teaching it in school, adoptions etc.

Since the military went PC a few decades ago there is little to respect of a person that had to play politics versus playing soldier and earning respect to gain such rank.

That's the truth. I used to have soldiers that had so much respect for the SR NCOs, but too many call E-9s by their first name now. I am from the old school, and use their proper title, both officer and enlisted.

Good point. The early Legions of Rome were made up of Roman citizens. They have “auxillaries” of non-Romans to supplement the Legions. Over time they became more and more dependent on the auxillaries. They stopped having citizen soldiers.

In the first two or three years of this liberal-inspired fiasco, the military will lose more outstanding socially conservative members--its backbone--than all the gays and lesbians kicked out in the past 20 years.
